The neck wards are temps. I also had them on my wrists and the nape of my neck. Lauren is going to make a full circle of all 18 ward symbols for me, and I am going to tattoo that one on for reals. Voting is open for where...

I've never read any Tamora Pierce, so I can't venture much of an opinion, though guilt over killing someone ELSE is still a reasonably happy ending, all things considered.

I don't even know that we would have disagreed in the long run. Shawn the moderator is convinced we were saying the same thing in different ways, but since we never got to discuss it for reals, I guess we'll never know. This is the problem with 10 person 60 minute panels.

There's an article about the panel on the Tor blog:

There will be more baby lightsaber pix tomorrow.

That picture of the baby with the lightsaber is by far the coolest pic I've seen out of this con.

Those temporary tattoos make me crave a real tat of one of the wards. Incidentally, are those neck wards the real deal or temps? Either way they are, indeed, kickass.

I agree with Chantal...Tamora Pierce is kind of awesome. She actually has a variety of things in her writing that actually pertain to girls/teenagers. Yes they do come out with happy endings but she does her characters and women justice. She is a refreshingly woman point of view. Also not all works out super great. In her Circle of Magic series basically each of her characters ends up killing people in really friggin' nasty ways. She does have happy endings but not without character guilt.
But um...yeah...kind of a huge Tamora Pierce fan here myself as recently of the past year. But I am just a YA fiction addict period.

I love the baby with the light saber! That is awesome!
Awesome costumes as usual. I just love all the people in tight spandex.

*Gasp* I used to be a big Tamora Pierce fan. Have you read any of them? (I wouldn't be surprised if you hadn't, they're really only for teenage girls). I've sort of grown out of them though, sometimes they feel a bit too simplistic for me and everything always turns out so happy and perfect (I get more cynical about happy endings as I get older, hmm...)

The whole convention looks so fun. They just don't have that kind of thing in the UK :/
