Ah yeah, don’t sweat it Peat. I’m not rushing ya or anything, just curious. I’m glad we’re not getting pushed to the back of the queue or anything.

I like to think that, with us getting it first, a little bit of your fanbase is thanks to us UK fans. Course, probably helps that the book is awesome

The US publisher (Del Rey Books) bought the rights first, but the UK publisher (Voyager) had less red tape in getting it out, and wanted it to be their big debut of 2008. Del Rey also pushed the book back a couple of months so they could promote it at NY ComicCon last month.

The Desert Spear will likely publish in the UK before the US, though with a smaller gap between them this time. The actual pub date is under discussion right now, but while I have finished the first draft, there will still be a fair amount of revision before we can go to production. Whenever I announce here that I am done revising, add about 4 months to that, and you will get the approximate publication date.

I haven’t even started the third book, The Daylight War, so the two publishers may well be synced up by the time that is ready to go to press.

You may have answered this elsewhere and I’ve missed it, but why did your book launch in the UK so long before the US, especially with you being a Yankie yourself, if you’ll pardon the expression.

Not that I mind, of course. Us Brits are mighty happy that we’ve already had a tasty of Painted goodness.

Also, I may be remembering this incorrectly, but is the sequel coming out in the US before the UK?
