  6. Hi Shaila! Glad to hear you liked the book. My UK publisher, Harper Voyager, has English language distribution in India, so all the books should come out there more or less the same time they do everywhere else. I’d like to get a Hindi translation someday too, but nothing in the works yet.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Desert Spear was three years of my life. I hope everyone loves it as much as I do.

  7. The agony! Close to finishing The Painted Man, and was already planning on getting The Desert Spear (it’s advertised on the inside front cover). But it’s only just finished! The minutes will seem like years til it’s release 🙂

Great concept, great book, can’t wait for the next one.

  8. Congratulations CHAMPION!!! Stoked to hear it!! Always happy to hear of anyone finishing a draft – and now I have to wait all day to get home and use your inspiration to continue chipping away at my own…
    Looking forward to reading it

  9. So is this the final rewrite? Or does further editorial scrutiny await?

  10. (P.S. WELL DONE!)

  11. Hi Chantal. I’ve learned in publishing to never use the word “final”, but the creative work is all done. All that’s left is the copyedit, where we niggle and argue over punctuation and word usage.

    Good times.

  12. Fantastic news mate, can’t wait for it to hit the shelves here in Australia. FYI your book is currently taking the Australian Army by storm! Been “overseas” for the last 8 months and happy to report that a lot of the boys in my unit bought your book and thought it was fantastic. Helped keep the boredom and homesickness at bay during our downtime. Thanks for all your hard work on the Painted Man, it was appreciated.

  13. Thanks, Talis! Good to know the Australian Army is on my side, I’d hate for it to be the other way around. If you or any of the boys in your unit want to send pictures of yourselves with the book overseas (or sitting on a tank on base, or whatever), I’d be delighted to post them on the blog. Thank you for your service.

  14. That is a great news! I liked ‘The Painted Man’ and I hope ‘The Desert Spear’ will be great too! Poland is waiting for second part 🙂
PS. My mom is close to finish your book, she’s delighted!
    Greetings

  17. Gutted to discover I have to wait ’til April for Desert Spear. Really enjoyed The Painted Man and am reccomending it to anyone who’ll listen. Finding such a good read is rare. No pressure but I hope there will be many more from you.
Wishing you all the best, Debbie.

  18. Thanks, Debbie! The Desert Spear is with the publishers now so no worries there, and I’m hard at work on The Daylight War, as well as some other goodies like the Arlen short stories that will be appearing in the books from Subterranean Press.
