Desert Messenger

Oh, yeah. That’s what I like to see. Work it for the camera, baby…

That’s right, I finally got some US samples to share with friends and family. I will be giving some away on the blog, as well, but I doubt I will have time to do it before the looming launch date. Things are very very busy in the PVB world these days.

In other news, I finally received my copy of King of RPGs, by Jason Thompson. Some of you may remember the Live Online RPG I played a couple of months ago with Jason as Dungeonmaster. Good times.

  4. Hi Peter

Is the Desert Spear out in the UK now? According to amazon (co uk) it is!

    And 2 more questions if that’s ok…. πŸ™‚

    1) How long roughly till the paperback comes out?

    2) Any more news on a potential film? The wait is killing me!! πŸ™‚

Thanks for everything – The Painted Man is my favourite book ever – keep it up!

  5. Speaking of RPG comic books, the Guild comic from DarkHorse, written by Felicia Day and illustrated by Jim “Street Angel” Rugg came out this week. Good stuff.

Peat–The kid wanted a new sticker, so I book the book plate on Alexa’s crayon box.

  6. Matt(s),

I don’t think Desert Spear is out yet. It’s not supposed to appear in stores until next week, and even though Amazon shows it in stock, meaning they have copies in their warehouse, they are still showing the release date as April 5.

I don’t know for sure when the paperback will come out, but last time it was 8 months after the hardcover. I expect it will be in that ballpark.

I have had recent contact with the film people assuring me of their continued interest and their love of The Desert Spear, but it may be some time (if ever) before they exercise the option. If there is something to tell, I will blog about it posthaste.

I definitely need to get that Guild comic. I didn’t get to the comic shop yet this week. Need to rectify that.

  7. Ahhh Desert Spear!
I want to note that amazon owned me. Really hard. A few months ago they said that “Das FlΓΌstern der Nacht”, the german version of the desert spear, will be out in april as well as the english version. And now they tell me it won’t be published until august. Owned.
    A RPG Manga? Cool!

  9. Yeah, Iris, I think I mentioned that a while ago. Heyne is taking a little extra time to make sure the Desert Spear translation is top-notch, so they moved the release date back a bit.

Never fear, though! To compensate, they are releasing the German version of The Great Bazaar (Der Grose Basar) in April to coincide with the US & UK Desert Spear release.

Der Grose Basar will contain everything the US version did, plus some wonderful maps, illustrations, and one entirely new novella that will be a German exclusive until the English version is printed in an anthology from Subterranean Press later this year.
