De Getekende
The Messenger came yesterday (or was it Monday?), bringing me 10 copies of De Getekende, the Dutch translation of The Painted/Warded Man:
I was interested to see that my buddy Brent Weeks gave me a quote on the back. I didn’t know he spoke Dutch. I can’t read a word of it, but I will assume it is complimentary until I hear otherwise.
It says:
“It’s a great book, highly recommended.”
I also follow both you and Brent on Twitter, and it’s pretty cool when I see you two tweet eachother. Two great authors and friends sharing ideas, you’re the next Tolkien and CS Lewis!
Brent and I also moonlight together as detective crimefighters.
It’s weird, but the Dutch always translate foreign reviews in translated books. Sometimes even that much, that whne I hold the Dutch and English versions next to each other, I can barely tell they’re the same review.
“De Getekende”, translated literally back to English, means “The Signed One”, or “The Marked One”.
I’m glad I bought the English version one or two years back, waiting until now for the translated version would’ve killed me. On the other hand, I could immediately turn to The Desert Spear after I finished this one..

Dutch translations suck big time! If i can avoid them i will. The english versions are always more vivid, allowing me half to read in pictures.
Anyway, it’s an awesome book, you can be proud of yourself for writing it.
