Mia the Amazing

Now there are different levels of fans. There is the fan that read a book once or twice and would recommend it to a friend if they are asked. There are those who know all the trivia and the instant you mention a book they jump on it and don’t let go like a rather angry pit bull. Then there is Mia. Mia is one of those fans that authors only pray that they get. Not only is she a fan, but an extremely talented fan.

You may know Mia for winning the Homemade Heroes Contest where she made the Sharik Hora temple. It’s one of those things that when you see it, you suddenly become very jealous of her talent. (And yes, this feeling will continue the longer you read this post.) If you look closely, you can see that the pillars have tons of little skulls on them. In fact, bones are almost everywhere on this piece.

She even brought it to Peat and it still sits in his office.

Now, this would usually be enough to get a shout out, but then she did this; she made a fantastic bag for Dani.

Now, some people are inspired by others to create a piece or two by a muse. Now, apparently, Peat is an amazing muse, because those aren’t the only Demon Cycle crafts she made. Look at this snow demon ward e-reader cover that she did in needlepoint. I need to say two things; One it is awesome. And, two, can I please have some of Mia’s talent?

And just to finish off, like a well made dessert, she made this fantastic box with a sand demon it it.

It is a wooden and glass box, with a sculpture of a sand demon holding up a sign. In the back, there is a mirror, on which she has painted a ward sign. A little cute and a little scary, and a lot of awesome.

Now, Mia also competes in some of the other contests. And apparently she likes limericks. A lot. Luckily for us, she’s really good at them. Here are a few of my favorites.

There once was a boy who could fiddle
Whose talent and time he did piddle
Couldn’t pick up this chick
He wasn’t her pick
So now he just plays with his diddle.

Flip the pages for women to fancy
Eat your heart out Jolie, Fox or Halle
They got nothing on Leesha
Renna or Inevera
How would Bruna look in a bikini?

There once was a demon of rock
Who strutted around like a peacock
But the Warded Man came
Hacked his limb off for fame
And left him a creature to mock.

Jardir was the strongest of fellows
The warrior code he always follows
But he then got a wife
And that changed his life
Now ‘Aye dear!’ he says when she bellows.

The mind demon is so very scary
On top of it all it’s quite hairy
But Jardir would much rather
Have a demon encounter
Than go home and be nagged by his honey.

In Krasia life must be quite hard
If you’re strong you must fight not just ward
And if not you’re khaffit
No respect, not a bit
And the diet is strict so no lard.

I just loved reading all of her limericks. You can read the rest of them here, which I strongly suggest you do.

Well, I think that the evidence here is clear; Mia is an amazing fan and someone is going to have to do a lot to topple her from being Peat’s number one fan.

Mia’s stuff freakin’ rocks – couldn’t agree more! But your post makes me want to take up a spear and shield and fight for the title of Number On….*looks at the sand demon*….Number Two Fan.

  3. I’m still in admiration every time I see the Sharik Hora!
I think we’ll be a lot to fight for the 2cd place :-p
But if I can be the Number One FRENCH Fan, that’ll be OK for me :-p hehehe

  4. Too sweet! I’m humbled by the post (and mortified my sand demon is cuter than me). I am but a lowly minion of Peat’s. BTW – just to clarify – I’m not ‘number one fan’ like Kathy Bates in Misery number one fan, right?
