Fan Art Contest: Coreling Horn and Warded Box

Posted by Meg

It is my pleasure to post another fantastic entry to the Fan Art Contest, this time, by super-fan Kym. You can check out more of Kym’s incredible work in her previous blog post or on her deviant art page. As you can see, Kym continues to amaze us with her superb wood burning skills. Here is what she had to say about her entry:

Hello Mr. Brett,

I thought really hard about what to make for this contest, I wanted to do wood burning but also wanted to make something that is a bit different to what I have already put on DeviantArt. My entry is inspired from The Desert Spear near the end when Inevera and Leesha each cut off a horn from the mind demon. I sculpted what I envisioned a coreling horn to look like and painted some black as blood to the cut end. I burned wards onto the wooden bands on the box and burned all the way through on the large mind ward on the top. The mind ward glows, with magic from the coreling horn, and a little red glow in the dark paint, I lined the inside of the box with red velvet. I have attached the pictures individually, I was not sure if I should send in just one picture or a few so you could get a good look at the horn and box.

Thank you for having a fun competition and all the best for the New Year.

Kym

Amazing job Kym! These pieces are beautiful, and the work is so detailed. It’s such a unique idea to bring to the table. Thank you for entering!
