Make Your Own Daylight War Cover Contest

Posted by Meg

The people have spoken! We did poll last week to see what contest you folks might want to do for some sweet Great Bazaar booklets that Peat picked up at Pol Con. The winner was clear: we are going to make some Daylight War covers!

Contest Guidelines

  1. Create your own, original cover for The Daylight War
  2. Be creative! We want to see what you think makes a great cover!
  3. Submit all entries to contest@www.petervbrett.com with the subject heading Daylight War Cover
  4. This contest will run for about 3 weeks. Make sure to get your entries in by 11:59pm on October 15, 2012
  5. We have 5 rare Great Bazaar booklets (pictured below) to be given to the best of the best.

Need some inspiration? Check out all of current Demon Cycle covers from all over there world. Or check out the preview for The Daylight War on Peat’s website. The recent Polish translation, released by Pol Con, can be found here.

The Daylight War will be published on February 12, 2013 in the U.S. and February 11 in the U.K. You can read more about the upcoming release of The Daylight War and what Peat has to say about The Demon Cycle here. In preparation for the exciting release, both of Peat’s novellas (The Great Bazaar and Brayan’s Gold) will be published together in January of 2013.

I can’t wait to be blown away by these covers!

  1. Is it petty that I like that the UK gets the book a day before the US? 😛

  2. It’s a shame that I can’t draw…
    Then again, if I put some effort into it, maybe I’ll come up with something which isn’t *that* terrible… ^^;
Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing all the covers that’ll be submitted.

P.S. Oct, 15th, isn’t actually a full month from now xP

  3. Wow. What an honour this would be to be chosen to represent Peat’s work!

I think it will be interesting to see some people’s ideas, because I guess we don’t know any of the relevant themes that we could include.

Is the work you submit becoming the cover? Or is the idea you submit going to be improved upon by a professional?

    Regards,
    Stew

  4. Stew, the contest winner will not be a part of the actual cover in any way. It is too close to publication for that to be a possibility.

As for themes, we do know there is going be more on Inevera and Peat said earlier this week that this book will focus more on relationships than the other two books. So there is a little something to get everyone started.

Also, part of the fun and is maybe doing a little guessing about what those themes might be! Can’t wait to see everybody’s cover!
