Bio Contest: New Entries

Posted by Meg

The Bio Contest officially ended last night, and a ton of hilarious entries piled in over the weekend. Here is a sampling.

From Johann:

Peter Vespasianus Brett is the author of The Warded Man, The Desert Spear and the recently released Daylight War. Raised on a steady diet of virgins tears, ground unicorn horn and demon fillet, Peat has been writing fantasy stories for as long as he can remember. Legend has it that he absorbed the creativity of all his beaten foes by brushing his open palm down their bloody and tear streaked faces.. He then spent over a decade in pharmaceutical testing, hoping to gain more power or at least glow in the dark, before returning to writing. He lives in Brooklyn atop a Throne of Skulls.

From Steve:

New York Times bestselling author Peter V. Brett is the mind behind The Demon Cycle series: The Warded Man, The Desert Spear, The Daylight War and the upcoming novel The Skull Throne. Tattoos play a major role in the series and Peter (“Peat” to his friends) has been blessed with a fan base that pays tribute through their own tattoos. His next series will feature gold bullion and tropical beach vacations as a key magical components. Peat received his BA in English Literature and Art History from the University at Buffalo in 1995. This led to a ten-year career in pharmaceutical publishing that developed into beige cubicle syndrome and then progressed to acute creativity starvation. Friends nod sagely when the words “slow learner” are uttered in his presence. Peat is making up for The Lost Decade™ by devoting himself to writing fantasy novels and contributing to the Red Sonja Unchained comic series. He lives with his daughter and a growing arsenal of fantasy weapons in Brooklyn.

From Sean:

Peter V. Brett (the “V” is silent) is the author of The Warded Man, The Desert Spear, and the latest release Daylight War. Unbeknownst to readers Daylight War was distributed across worldwide markets with ten different endings. As a result, the forthcoming fourth novel in the Demon Cycle series, The Skull Throne, will have ten different beginnings. In between novels Peter (“Peat” on all injunctions) recently completed ghost writing the concluding three novels of the Wheel of Time series for Brandon Sanderson over a long holiday weekend, and is now in the process of negotiating with the WWE to become a full time script writer for the flagging sport of professional wrestling. Long thought to be a tatooaphobist the author announced on Twitter that the idea of “wards” indelibly marked into flesh first came to him in kindergarten when a classmate displayed her prison ink for Show and Tell. Peter proudly sports multiple tattoos, though none are visible to the naked eye. The author currently resides in international waters for tax purposes, where when not writing, he spends his free time dropping small biodegradable objects overboard and drunk-wrestling giant sea squid.

From Bill:

Peter V. Brett, author extraordinaire, was born to a loving family. Unfortunately they couldn’t afford another mouth to feed, and so left him to fend for himself. A pack of wolves stumbled upon the infant and decided to raise him as their own. He taught himself to read using the only materials at hand, old comic books and fantasy novels left by hikers in the woods. Peter (Peat) grew strong fed on a steady diet of raw venison and elk, and eventually decided to make his way, separate from the pack. He discovered that in order to live in this world of two legged animals a degree was important, and so attended college at the University of Buffalo ( its name reminding him of the prey of his youth). He decided to make his life as difficult as possible and got his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Art History (after determining that underwater basket weaving provided too much stable income). He currently resides in Brooklyn, the concrete jungle suits his need to hunt. His time not spent hunting is used to write delicious brain candy. He is currently working on the Skull Throne the 4th book in his Warded Man Trilogy (wolves don’t bother with math.)

From Tracy:

Peter V Brent Weeks is the award winning author of the acclaimed Nightangel Trilogy, the New York Times Bestselling Demon Cycle series, as well as the massive multi-volume Lightbringer series. He spent his childhood alternating between homes in New York and Montana, where he developed a pathological aversion to the outdoors following his encounter with a pack of wild Grizzly Bears that he was forced to wrestle into submission. He speaks German,Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, French, Spanish, Serbian, Czech, and Japanese; and has personally translated all of his works into those languages. Peter V Brent Weeks is currently married with two lovely wives, and has two amazing daughters that are each so perfect they may have been genetically modified. He is currently writing the follow-up to his Bestselling Daylight War, and at the same time revising ‘The Broken Eye’ which will be the next in his epic eighteen volume ‘Lightbringer Saga’. He sleeps less than Brandon Sanderson.

We will be choosing the winner later this week. The prize is one U.S. hardcover of The Warded Man with the optional Larry Rostant cover. There have been so many creative entries, Peat will have a hard time choosing one.
