Nothing to See Here…

SPOILER ALERT!!!

IMG_4404Hi! I’m fantasy writer Peter V. Brett. You may be a new reader wandering around my website for the first time, fresh from reading The Warded Man. Or maybe you got linked here by some SF blog you like, or someone’s retweet, and have no idea who I am. That’s cool. I’m a pretty nice guy, and I hope we can be friends. But regardless of how it happened, if you’re new to my work, this is not the place you want to be.

Heck, even if you’re not that new.

If you’ve never read anything of mine and want a taste, why not check out the The Warded Man? That’s the first book in my Demon Cycle series, and even now, years later, I am still damn proud of it. And hey! Here are the first 50 pages for free!

If you’ve read The Warded Man and/or The Desert Spear, and want some fun, free bonus material, why not try going to my Excisions page? Lots of deleted scenes and fun stuff there.

But if you’re all in, if you’ve read The Warded Man, The Desert Spear, The Daylight War, and yes, even The Great Bazaar (there will be a test), then you might, just might, want to click here.

Just do me a favor, please. Two favors, actually.

1) If you want to link to this material, please direct your link here, to the Spoiler Alert post, and not direct to the material.

and

2) Please be respectful to those who have not read up through Daylight War. Please don’t post the spoilers you find in open feeds/forums without a spoiler alert/tag of your own. Some people don’t wanna know, and they’re entitled to that.

Thanks!

  6. See. Now. That was all quite good. But I shouldn’t have read it because now the wait will be even more excruciating.

  10. I love you, Peat.
I wondered what would happen after the ending of The Daylight War and there were several situations that I would have liked to see in the sequel. And where I thought it would be impossible to combine them, you just … make it happen.
Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  15. I tried to be strong and not read this sneak peak, because I’ve always hated knowing what I was getting for Christmas. The temptation was too much.

It looks like we fans are in for a wild ride in the next book! 🙂

Thank you, Peat, for giving us this little appetizer!

  19. I read the first sentence and shivered. Thanks for sharing this with us Peat, it’s great to see The Skull Throne’s intrigue shaping up.

I will, somehow, resist any further chapters. My appetite has been whetted, must….resist….spoiling.

  24. Can..Not..Wait..

  25. Amazing start. Like others the waiting is by far the only downside to this seried. You should check in more. .. updates and such. Would keep me occupied to hear things like “just finished chapter 12” or “Hey fans just cleared with publisher and books coming soon”… Would also help me know when to clear my reading list.

  26. Just finished reading “The Daylight War”…for the second time (couldn’t wrap my head around the abrupt ending)…this morning! I found this sneak peek, and could NOT resist! Wonderful continuation! Love it!
I have been completely addicted to this series since I read the first line of “The Warded Man” a few months back!
Just wanted to give my respect and encouragement. Honest word!

  28. By the grace of Everams bounty. Those 50 pages were such an unexpected treat, i came here to give my thanks and appreciation for Mr Brett’s work and once more he gives me all the joy. To you kind sir (Peter V Brett) i thank you very much for writing this series of books, i’ve never felt so happy, sad or angry and spent many tears of joy while reading it too. I’m an avid reader so i’m used to the 2-6 years you have to wait for the next book in a series but this is by the far the series of books i’m most eager for in release, i wish you well in it’s writing and life and look forward to future projects you may have.

  31. I can’t believe how fast I read that. Great introduction, though I honestly wish I had not read it until the book was released. Not I am going to be even more impatient.

  33. Hi Peter
I inhaled the sample, thank you. I slipped easily back into your well crafted imagery. I look forward to your next offering.
Just a suggestion: I really enjoy audio books but I do not always enjoys the accents they are read in. Can you please offer one version in an English ascent as well in the Skull Throne.
    Regards
    A Demon Cycle Devotee

  35. Sitting on a sofa in a library, having just cancelled everything else and finished The Daylight War mere seconds ago, I wish to thank You from all my heart for giving such pleasure to people and quitting your pursuits at “pharmaceutical publishing”(no doubt the job’s been given to someone else perhaps less apt to write what you have written). 🙂 I haven’t yet read the beginning of The Skull Throne but I suspect I’ll give in to the irresistible temptation soon enought. Again, Thank You!

  37. The relationship between Arlen and Ahmann is one of the best I’ve ever had the joy of knowing. My mind is filling to breaking point with possible ways this book is going to unravel. So with this I say thank you, and at the same time, curse you for hanging that treat out there! This is now going to be one of the most torturous years of my life! Could you maybe……..post the second chapter?……….and possibly the third whilst your at it?
