Warded Tattoo Rings

Batsi from Germany wows us with these beautifully crafted interlocking warded tattoos in his entry to the Warding Contest.
Here’s what Batsi has to say about getting his tattoo and his future warding plans:
I talked about your book with a good friend of mine, who is really creative and described to him how I pictured your explanation. So I asked him to paint it for me, and as you can see, he did that, he combined most of the wards I found online and put them together. It took some weeks till he would figure out something I also liked and had recreate it pretty often. Finally, I got a tattoo session, my first by the way. I was waiting for the artist and as he came he immediately told me that he is not capable of doing this tattoo; it would be too small, too detailed and take way too long to tattoo in one session because the whole team told me it isn’t possible to get this in more than one session due to details. They wouldn’t be able to put correctly together if he stops and finishes another day. I was incredible pissed at that moment, cause the artist didn’t tell me before and just looked at my wards right before he wanted to start. He had someone else doing the template for him, this already took a whole day. So the crew at the shop told me, they asked their best tattoo artist if he would be able to do this, and he agreed some days later, he called me for a date. So it startet again, and as time went by I found myself standing on a bench waiting for four people to adjust the template to my leg.
That day in autumn 2012, I got tattooed for a rough 12 hours, effective tattooing time lik 9-10 hours. Like I said, at that point, it was my first tattoo, I wouldn’t know what to expect from the pain, and I felt it was pretty OK for the first couple of hours. As the hours went by it would get really painfull, the last three hours I was like: please dude finish just finish. My skin didn’t want to get more ink anymore, and he switched machines and put more pressure on the needle to put the color deeper in the skin. So he wouldnt have to tattoo it a second time. He took photos of the piece as we finished and I asked him if he wants to put it on the homepage or in his folders. He denied it instantly by saying: everybody would come and want something like that too, you don’t want that and especially I don’t want that either! So, we never shared it before, of course lot of friends and other tattoo artist have seen that and were amazed. I plan to have nearly my whole left leg covered with wards, combined like those. If i go on, l will let you know, so you can see the results. I never did a 12 hour tattoo session after and I think I wont again, but it was worth it and even if it takes some years and thousands of euros to expand and maybe finish my wards, I’ll at least get a leg like I imagined the Warded Man has.
