ST Cover Contest: Blazing Ward

Posted by Meg

We’ve had some beautiful Skull Throne covers so far in the contest. And this one, by Dagmar from Germany, is no exception.

Here’s what he had to say about his cover:

I prefer simple and symbolic and not too detailed covers for books, so that’s what I designed. It shows a combat ward (my German The Great Bazaar-edition cites it as the heat-ward), because I expect the Skull Throne to be pretty martial (not sure if this is the right word ;-)). The yellow-orange-red colors in the background represent the heat (fire) of this ward and the increasing violence, tension and pressure of the fights and actions (that I expect 😉 ).

This is such a great example of how you can make a creative, striking cover without using a computer! I love the ward and the peek we get at the blazing colors behind it. Fantastic job, Dagmar.

And don’t forget to enter your own artwork the Create Your Own Skull Throne Cover Contest to win the ultimate Demon Cycle book collection. Contest ends August 18, 2014.

Peat will be in London next week! British fans, check out his full schedule here.
