Giveaway: Creative Ward Uses!

Posted by Karen

Hi everyone! Once again, we come to this week’s Warded Wednesday. We’re really excited about this one, so without further ado, let’s get to it! In the world of The Demon Cycle, people get creative with their wards. Along with being effective against demons, the wards can bring heat, light, etc.

For this giveaway, we’re encouraging all of you to get creative and answer this question:

What else could demon wards be used for?

If you need a reminder about the different types of wards, you can check them out here. There are endless possibilities for this one and we can’t wait to see what you come up with!

  1. I posted an interesting ward idea for the weapons question. An acid ward. The end of my short staff had a sword and blades intertwined around it to create the acid ward. It would melt any demon flesh it touches. Leaving only shells of the bone that would quickly crumble, similar to when a hora bones magic is used up. Or to get interesting, a different ward could be used as a contraceptive. Give those women the freedom of having a contraceptive. Instead of stupid palm tea!

  2. Charge up my phone and other things on the go. Tired of dead gadgets not lasting a day.

  3. I’d use the wards of unsight to make myself an invisibility cloak.. always wanted to be able to spy on people. It probably sounds like a waste of wards but I’d also use them to play pranks..that could be fun. 😀 If I wanted a quiet night in, I’d use wardlight to read by, because my book lights always fall off my book/kindle..or run out of battery at crucial points in the book :’]

  4. A very skilled wardsmith-engraver could create warded needles for testing whether or not a person is carrying ward-magic. Stick them with the needle. If the needle draws feedback, then they are carrying magic. If it doesn’t, then they probably aren’t.

Come to think of it, a technologically advanced society with access to wards and demons could probably do some very sophisticated things with nanowarding. You could etch them using similar techniques to how CPU’s are etched, and create a material that is studded with billions upon billions of very, very tiny wards. Each ward would be individually weak, but by etching them in such a pattern materials that are intrinsically resistant to demons could be mass produced.

  5. I would use it for medical purposes. The possibilities are endless.

Could help the blind see with wardsight. Glass eye(s), carefully warded for strength and wardsight. While it might not be the same as giving perfect vision it would at least give some degree of vision back.
False limbs, attached with wards of healing so it could be as good, or better, than the original limb.

And if it was me using it in our world, I would do that by day, and by night I would fight crime. Properly warded up Bruce Wayne or Oliver Queen would have nothing on me! Come on, warded vision and wards of unsight?

  6. I would use wards to make certain objects come to life. It may sound a bit childish or useless but it would be cool. You could have a dancing/moving statue, doors that open for you, cars that basically become transformers (would be cool to have), stuffed animals that come to life like Ted did (we’ve all dreamed of it) etc. The possibilities are endless. It would be interesting to watch happen and would make certain jobs easier.
