You're one of the first users to see Peat's new forum. If you have any comments, suggestions, or questions about the forum, please write them here.

Thanks for taking the time to look around!

First impression suggestions:

-Important buttons / links need to stand out more (e.g. Reply to Post), perhaps turning the important ones into full-fledged buttons?

-Light blue links on a grey-blue backgroung make spotting links hard, even worse for the visually impaired

-A common sub-header for the forum would be helpful; the only place I really noticed is the profile editor which has a "return to forum" link, but replicating the forum sub-header there would make navigation more intuitive

Comments:

-Nice job fitting a forum into the layout of the site, thin blog-style templates can be a pain to get right with forums

I agree with Arthur that key links should be "buttonized".  I like the color combos, they work well with the overall mood and theme of the website.  The forum is easy to read however I do wish that the whole site would expand to accomodate wide screen monitors.  Who knows if that's possible or if it would trash the overall look of the page.

David,

Any ideas for ranks for forum posters?  Might be a nice bit of theater to grant a ward rank to frequent posters after reaching certain benchmarks.  20 posts, you get a ward, 50 some other ward to add to collection, etc?

Muh 2 cents

The problem with rewarding posts is that you tend to get a lot of meaningless posts.  Maybe if enough people "like" your post, ie facebook likes, or maybe referrals that end up being registered users.  The goal is to create a buzz here, no?

Howabout a topic for discussion, or maybe a weekly poll put out by peat…

Nice job with the forums!  It was super easy to register (you'd be surprised…  sometimes its not!)  Its easy to navigate and pretty intuitive.   Can't wait to start wasting (I mean spending!) time here stalking Peter and his amazing books!

I like the forum, great job! It looks nice, it´s fast, and has a lot of nice touches.

The only thing I´d change (but that´s just my personal tastes) is I would decrease the number of forums and subforums. I like it if there´s one forum where all topics are discussed. Even in big forums this usually works well in my experience. With so many different forums things get lost. But again, just my personal preference.

First off congrats on getting a forum up and running. Every great author should have one. Now for my feed back.

1. Disable signatures. They really aren't needed and as you can see already, some are bigger than what the person actually posts and they distract from what's being said.

2. This is more a personal preference but are you totally 100% locked into using this forum software? VBulletin used at sites like sffworld and malazanempire is one of the better forums around and though it will cost you some money for the licence IMO as a user and former admin it is worth every cent.

3. As others have said the nav buttons need to be more obvious.

4. That maths test to register hurt my brain:(

5. When you go to edit your post funky things happen and it's confusing.

6. Less forums is good but one you really need to add is a other fantasy/literature. Talking only about one author can get boring and being able to share views on other others helps build a community.
