Warding Mini-Contest: Warded Cuteness

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! For this batch of entries, we’re showing off the cutest of the warded cute. Check it out:

Ashly Elders sent in some (super cute) pics of her warded pug!

Perfect pug is perfect. I especially love the pug-sized spear and crown.

Ryan sent in in these pics on behalf of an up-and-coming deliverer!

here is my little wild Renna bales for the competition, been fighting demons all night

What a badass! No demon is going to mess with her. Also that knife is frikken awesome.

Marzena’s ferocious kitten is well protected!

This is my kitten Arya, the String Slayer, keeping herself safe from a hideous coreling. The warded box not only protects her from all kind of demons, but also gives her a chance to fight back with some offensive wards in a dire need!

What does the kitty say to the coreling? Not today.

Linz Powell sent in some ketchup wards (cameo of ketchup demon played by Kaede):

Apparently, ketchup wards are not Kaede-proof?

Maybe try mustard next?

Adorable warded baby sent in by Christopher Johnston:

You said ward anything, so i warded my baby. The original Odessa was to do them as straight on his skin, but I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to ward a drooling squirmy baby but it would be easier to wrestle a mimic demon. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Wonderful entry, Christopher!

Thanks so much to everyone for sending in entries! We’ll have more to show off soon.

Warding Mini-Contest: Warded Shield&Arrows

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! The Warding Mini-Contest is officially over. Thanks so much to all of you who sent in submissions. There are a -lot- of awesome ones this round, so while Peat takes on the herculean task of picking winners, I get to show them off.

Today’s entry comes to us as a collab between two awesome fans. You might remember those warded arrows we showed off a little while ago, crediting Irish aka Zweihornff on Twitter? Well it turns out she has a partner in crime. Check it out:

I’m sending you some pics of a warded shield and some arrows. You may know the arrows already because they were warded by Iris aka Zweihornff. I am the guy who’s building all the stuff Iris is warding. We’re currently preparing for a pretty cool Arlen cosplay coming in the next few weeks so be ready for that. I hope you’re enjoying the pics.

Tim S. is the builder behind the warder and the craftsmanship is just amazing. This is basically the coolest thing ever and I can’t wait to see the completed Arlen cosplay! So frikken badass! Thanks so much to both to both of you for the fantastic entries!

Warding Mini-Contest LAST DAY/First Entries

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! We’re putting up this post as a reminder that today is the LAST DAY of the Warding Mini-Contest. We’re still accepting entries this morning, so if you haven’t entered yet, there’s still time.

Entering is super easy– just grab something, literally anything, and ward it. Then snap a pic and send it to contest@www.petervbrett.com. That’s it! For the rest of the details, you can check out the original post here. Good luck!!!

Peat is going to have a hard time picking winners for this one, I just know it. Already we’ve got a bunch of awesome submissions that we’re so excited to show off. Here are just a few…

This quotable Warded Wall sent in by Aspen:

Wise words and gorgeously-drawn wards. Very nice.

Elissa’s warded notes:

I’m a huge Demon Cycle fan, I’ve already convinced two of my friends to read the books! This is my ward work for the contest to win an ARC of The Core. Hope you can find the wards between my fluid mechanics equation 🙂 ( when you said to ward anything, I bet you weren’t expecting this..)

Kevin Klug’s warded… himself:

I love the light in that second shot!! Absolutely gorgeous.

We’ll be posting more entries in the next week or two, so check back in for them!

Warding Mini-Contest

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! Remember the Closet Cosplay Mini-Contest we ran last week? That was an enormous success, so we’re doing it again! This time, we’re doing an official Warding Mini-Contest. We’re also upping the stakes. Thanks to the generous folk over at Del Rey, this contest will have up to THREE winners who will receive Advance Read Copies of The Core. Here’s how it’s going down…

Entering is easy–  Just ward something. This can be clothes or weapons or yourself or random people on the street (please get their permission first). Feel free to be creative with it! Just like last week, this contest will start on Friday and run through the weekend. Send your submissions to contest@www.petervbrett.com. Anything in our inbox by Monday morning will be accepted.

If you need some inspiration, here are some examples of things people have warded in the past:

Good luck!!

As a reminder, both Peat and Del Rey will be continuing to do trivia ARC giveaways. They’ll also be doing some rather special ones over the next couple of weeks. I don’t want to give too much away, but you might want to have a writing utensil handy. Keep an eye on Peat’s Twitter and the official Del Rey Twitter so you don’t miss them.

Ciclo Das Trevas: A Guerra Da Luz Available Now!

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! It’s finally here. After months of eager anticipation, A Guerra Da Luz is now officially available from Darkside Books ! Peat’s Brazillian publisher is amazing and we’re so happy they’ve worked their magic, turning The Daylight War into A Guerra Da Luz.

The official release date was August 29th, so this book is right out of the gate. You can order A Guerra Da Luz from Saraiva here or from Amazon here.

We’re always so thrilled when we get a new Demon Cycle translation from Darkside. Their editions are one of my absolute faves, and for good reason. The printing, the design, and just the general badassery is always top tier. If you don’t believe me, check out this book-porn video of O Protegido:

Honestly, the whole set is stunning. If you live in Brazil and haven’t grabbed one of these beauties, you’re definitely missing out:
