Hey everyone! You remember the UK version of The Skull Throne, right? It’s one of my favorite Demon Cycle covers featuring one of my favorite characters. When Peat let me pick which Skull Throne version to add to my own collection, I chose this one:

Larry Rostant, the mastermind behind all Demon Cycle covers, puts his all into each one. In the designing process, he created other versions of the cover– what-if versions that never get used. Like this one:

In a parallel universe, someone has the Skull Throne with that cover. You can check out more Skull Throne Outtakes on Larry Rostant’s Pinterest here or by clicking on one of the pictures above. While you’re there, consider browsing his other work too, it’s all incredible and definitely worth a look.

Hey everyone! In the course of designing a book, one of the most important aspects to think about is the cover. Specifically, what artwork you want to show off that says ‘hey, I’m awesome!’.
The Demon Cycle has, in my opinion, some of the best covers out there, but it took a lot of work to get them there. That means a lot of cover choices that went unseen. Despite not being picked, they’re still gorgeous works of art. Here are some of my favorites…
Daylight War. Smack dab in the middle of the series, this cover features the beautiful and powerful Inevera. Here’s one of the shots that almost got used:

Check out more unused cover pics of Daylight War.
Skull Throne went through a bunch of options too. Here’s a Rojer pose that was cool, but didn’t quite make it onto the UK version:

The US version also took some tries. Peat’s publisher didn’t want to get it right, they wanted to get it PERFECT. Here are just a few of the takes:

Beautiful aren’t they? I wouldn’t want to be the one choosing between these for the official covers– they’re all too good! Let us know which ones are your favorites.

Hey everyone! Barnes&Noble recently put out a ‘50 Book To Read While You Wait For Game Of Thrones To Come Out‘ list. As someone who watches it religiously, of course I took a look-see. Three guesses as to what was on it:

Aww yisss, it’s awesome to see a familiar face. Likewise, Goodreads gave a shoutout to the Demon Cycle on their own ‘Top 50 Favorite Fantasy Novels’ list‘. Different name, same story:

If you’re a fan of Fantasy (a FAN-tasy?), then go ahead and check these lists out. It’s got some old favorites as well as new blood. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find a new favorite.
