Callbacks: Inevera and Renna Cosplays!

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! The Still Life Contest is going on right now, so if you haven’t entered yet, have at it. Deadline is May 5th. Prizes include books signed by Peat himself and whatever other Demon Cycle related stuff we feel like throwing in 🙂

Okay, reminder has been done. Moving on!

Remember last week when I decided to start a new blog-post-series called Callbacks? Essentially, we’re going to look back over some of the beautiful creations people have sent in and shared over the years. Because awesomeness deserves appreciation. With that in mind, check out these gorgeous cosplays!

First up is Inevera in the Chamber of Shadows:

Olka Salwach Inevera3

This cosplay was sent in by Olka Salwach from Poland. The atmosphere, the costume, that blue magic.. there’s nothing I don’t love about this.

Next up is one of my personal favorite Renna cosplays:

Joy Cronje thought of everything, right down to the warded weapons. Even those nails could give demons a good slashing! And that’s not even counting the pic she digitally manipulated afterwards:

RennaCrouch

Utterly breathtaking work.

Both these cosplays obviously took a ton of work. They truly are works of art and we couldn’t be more honored to show them off here.

Still Life Contest

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone!

We’re so excited to announce our next contest (been awhile, hasn’t it?). This one has books signed by Peat himself as prizes, so get pumped!

Still Life Contest_ transparent red

A still life is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, dead animals, plants, rocks, or shells) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, and so on).

Contest Guidelines

1. Get a book from The Demon Cycle

2. Take a picture

3. Submit it to contest@www.petervbrett.com with the subject line “Still Life Contest”.

4. Contest open globally, enter as many times as you like.

5. Entries will be accepted until midnight on May 5th.

All entries fitting the above criteria will be accepted. Feel free to go as simple or extreme as you’d like with this– comical framing, digital manipulations, models, accessories, wardings, props, you name it. Be creative and have fun!

Examples

Here are a few examples, pulled from Instagram, to give you an idea of the kind of thing we’re looking for:

Fresh Wind Ward Tattoo

Hey everyone! A little while ago, 52wildkardz put up this picture of their new, and very fresh, Demon Cycle inspired tattoo on Instagram.

This wind ward that’s perfect for kicking windies right out of the air:

New tattoo! #thewardedman has been a long time favorite of mine and I’ve always loved the look of the wind ward. Thanks to @foreverinkedstudio for getting me in today with n0 notice and being such an awesome place!

This so awesome! The wind ward has always been one of my favorite wards too and foreverinked did an absolutely incredible job with it.

Warded Man: French Video Review

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! MJ-Family on Youtube put up this review of the French version of Warded Man.

We’re coming in a little late on this one because I haven’t looked through all the foreign tags in awhile. That being said, I really liked the energy in this review. Check it out!

My French is only ‘comme ci comme ça’, so if anyone wants to give us a rundown or translation, feel free!

Callback: Margherita Cosplays

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! With the fifth book of The Demon Cycle well under way, Peat has been looking back at old art– drawings, cosplays, etc.

Going off that, I’ve decided to put up some posts over the next couple of weeks harkening back to some of the beautiful projects people have put together over the years. I’m calling them Callbacks.

This first Callback is of Margherita’s absolutely gorgeous cosplay of Inevera:

Cosplay

You might remember this as the winning entry of Peat’s Cosplay Contest way back in 2011. This was and continues to be one of my favorite pieces of Demon Cycle fanart.

If that wasn’t enough, Margherita also wowed us during the Favorite Character Contest in 2013 when she dressed up like Ashia:

Ashia

All in all, absolute awesomeness and well deserving of a callback post.
