The Daylight War (Polish Edition): GeekLife Review!

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! Is it just me or have we been getting a lot of reviews since the new year started? Maybe it’s all that holiday reading finally showing itself. Hope it keeps up!

Our friends at GeekLife recently came out with a review for the Polish version of The Daylight War (Wojna w Blasku Dnia). The publisher put out this translation in two parts, the first on April 12, 2013 the second on June 19, 2013.

Adam’s review covers Part I:

Spoilers abound in this one, but if you don’t mind then go ahead and check it out. There’s also a few sneak-peeks at how the Polish version’s illustrations look on a classic ebook:

In a word: Awesome. All the kickass images in Wojna w Blasku Dnia Ksiega were done by Dominik Broniek. The cover was by our beloved cover artist Larry Rostant.

Adam also did a review for the Polish version of Desert Spear (Pustynna Wlócznia) a while back. You can find that review here!

Reminder: There’s still time to submit to the Skull Throne Paperback Contest. All entries must be sent to contest@www.petervbrett.com by January 26th.

Le Cycle des Démons: SensCritique review!

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! Our newest video review comes from Linilim at SensCritique. I’m particularly excited for this one because I get to put my rusty French to use. I knew it would be useful eventually!

This is a clever review from a clever reviewer. I love the concise witty format and it’s obvious a lot of work was put in. Plus it’s the first time I’ve heard Peat’s books compared to Pokemon. So that’s cool.

I’m impressed how much material she managed to cover in less than five minutes. If you want to check out more of Linilim’s reviews, you can head over to her video list.

We’ve had some great entries for the Skull Throne Paperback Contest, and it’s still going strong! Submissions should be sent to contest@www.petervbrett.com. This contest ends January 26th.

A Lança do Deserto: Cia do Leitor Review!

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone!

Reviews are awesome. We’ve had some great ones for The Demon Cycle and I absolutely love reading them. That being said, I’ve noticed a trend that people don’t like to write only positive things. For every praising point, it seems like there has to be a critique.

This isn’t a necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes there are good, interesting, points that kindle discussion and lead to a more thoughtful understanding.

Other times, it’s just nit-picking. Complaints for the sake of complaining.

The reason I bring this up is because of an enthusiastic review we got last week from the lovely people at Cia do Leitor that restored my faith in reviewers. This is the kind of content that I love to read the most- stuff that manages to be both clever and kind.

Patricia’s review is chock full of spoilers, but if you’ve already finished A Lança do Deserto, I’d definitely recommend giving it a read. It’s refreshing to see someone talking so openly about a book they enjoy:

Once again I was dragged by a completely fantastic world, still discovering a more about it. Revealing many secrets from the first to the last page... a must read!

Thanks so much to Patricia for the honest review! The fact that it’s a positive one certainly doesn’t hurt.

Remember that the Skull Throne Paperback Contest is currently going on! Submissions should be sent to contest@www.petervbrett.com by January 26th.

Skull Throne Paperback Contest: Twilight Dancer!

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! We’re starting off the Skull Throne Paperback Contest with a bang. Or should I say with a whinny?

TwilightDancerFromBookplate.jpeg

Every hero needs a trusty steed. Atreyu has Artax, The lone ranger has his trusty Silver, and Arlen has Twilight Dancer.

Twilight Dancer is a magnificent stallion, fearless and armored and warded to fight. He has killed corelings with his bare hooves. He is strong. Fierce. Ruthless.

Now, thanks to Kristina’s incredible crochet skills, he’s also soft and adorable!

TwilightDancerEntry

This teeny Twilight Dancer marks marks the first entry of the Skull Throne Paperback Contest and it’s just about the cutest thing I’ve seen all week. Thanks so much to Kristina for sending it in!

We’re so excited for this contest! Remember, the rules are pretty flexible, so feel free to go nuts. Draw something! Dress up like your favorite character! Ward a cat!

Please do not ward a cat.

Submissions should be sent to contest@www.petervbrett.com. This contest ends January 26th, so make sure to get your entries in by then!
