Fan Sean (@JohnStyles1) decided to ward off some demons on Halloween night … pretty effective warding, I’d say.

This is beyond awesome. I think we are going to have to run a contest next year.
The Skull Throne will be released in March in the U.S./U.K. with translations to follow. Pre-order the U.S. edition from Random House today.

Peat’s on deadline for The Skull Throne. Will he make it? Will technology get in his way?
- @PVBrett – Skipped the gym today to wear flannel & focus on #SkullThrone rewrite. I feel so naughty.
- @PVBrett – We’re raising a generation of women whose only exposure to helpless princess trope is seeing it turned on its head. This is a good thing.
- @PVBrett – Sometimes I feel I waste a lot of mental RAM on random minutiae in a scene. But if I don’t, who will? #SkullThrone
- @PVBrett – Huge #SkullThrone progress yesterday, but still a ton to do. But first I must sit and sign my name 555 times. My job is weird.
- @PVBrett – Twitter today is full of people I agree with being such assholes I want to disagree with them anyway. Oh, wait. That’s every day.
- @PVBrett – Signing your name 500 times in a row is like a brief visit to purgatory.
- @PVBrett – Not sure what I expected with Batgirl #35 but I kinda dug it. Not appropriate for Cassie, tho. The search for kid friendly comics continues.
- @PVBrett – Slight change to the #SkullThrone release. No creative delays, just production scheduling. New dates: US March 31, 2015 / UK April 9, 2015.
- @PVBrett – One of my rewrite notes: [TK insert dirty limerick involving the sexual organs of corelings.] This is my job.
- @PVBrett – My Polish publisher Fabryka S?ow is re-releasing The Great Bazaar & Brayan’s Gold with a great new cover: http://t.co/sFchPVgAv0

- @PVBrett – Need to make a Jardir family tree for #SkullThrone. Fourteen wives, all with at least 4 kids. My head hurts just thinking about it.
- @PVBrett – Snacking on raisins and it feels like a treat. This is your 40’s people. Take a long hard look.
- @PVBrett – Compiled #SkullThrone beta read notes into master file w/ 108 rewrite comments varying from “fix sentence” to “add chapter”. 2 weeks to go.
- @PVBrett – Watch this space as I slowly lose my mind over the next 2 weeks…
- @PVBrett – Trying to use track changes on an 833 page manuscript still crashes Word regularly. And here I thought it was 2014.
- @PVBrett – Nothing infuriates more than tech failing you when you are on a deadline.
- @PVBrett – UK signed and numbered edition of Messenger’s Legacy available for preorder from @GoldsboroBooks http://t.co/MTaPhGdMKD

- @PVBrett – Mind demons are technically male, but they are not human. So are they properly referred to as “he” or “it”? #nerdworldproblems
- @PVBrett – Thanks for the opinions, everyone. Went with “it” during human POV and “he” for mind demon POV. Seems consistent with earlier books.
- @PVBrett – I am vengeance. I am the night. I am… hoping you still have some of those mini Snickers bars.http://t.co/qb1NKdnaNF

- @PVBrett – It occurs to me, as I follow along, gray and carrying everything, that I have become Alfred. http://t.co/nW0A90uiQY

- @PVBrett – It’s #skullthrone crunch week with the World Fantasy Con starting Thursday. So of course I caught a cold…
- @PVBrett – Could you theoretically punch someone’s jaw so hard it breaks off and flies through the air? Asking for a friend.
- @PVBrett – NSFW RT @D18matt: .@PVBrett theoretically http://t.co/vXRAOCczM8

- @PVBrett – Last week had 108 editorial notes to address in the #SkullThrone rewrite. Whittled down to the 9 heaviest lifts. Made fresh coffee. It’s on.

This year, at the tail end of NYCC, Random House hosted a very special event, inviting fans to the publishing house and hang out with Peat and other fantasy authors Robin Hobb, Naomi Novik, Myke Cole and Sam Sykes. With coffee and tables full of free books, fans could come and go, visiting with authors casually, joke around or ask serious questions about the books.

So many books …

Peat signing books across from Naomi Novik

Getting the chance to talk with fans!

Robin Hobb was busy signing

Naomi Novik!

Of course, not everyone was well-behaved …

Myke and Sam work hard at defacing a fan’s book

Everybody signed!
