Check out the synopsis for the novalla here:

Humanity has been brought to the brink of extinction. Each night, the world is overrun by demons—bloodthirsty creatures of nightmare that have been hunting the surface for over 300 years. A scant few hamlets and half-starved city-states are all that remain of a once proud civilization, and it is only by hiding behind wards, ancient symbols with the power to repel the demons, that they survive. A handful of Messengers brave the night to keep the lines of communication open between the increasingly isolated populace.

Briar Damaj is a boy of six in the small village of Bogton. Half Krasian, the village children call him Mudboy for his dark skin. When tragedy strikes, Briar decides the town is better off without him, fleeing into the bog with nothing but his wits and a bit of herb lore to protect him.

After twenty years, Ragen Messenger has agreed to retire and pass on his route to his protégé, Arlen Bales. But for all that he’s earned the rest, he has no idea what to do with the rest of his life. When he learns Briar, the son of an old friend, is missing, Ragen is willing to risk any danger to bring him safely home.

Messenger’s Legacy will be amply illustrated by Lauren K. Cannon. The edition on The Signed Page is the trade hardcover edition of the book.

Messenger’s Legacy has an interesting origin story of how it came to be written and published. Check out this article by Shawn Speakman on Suvudu to learn what it is!

ST Cover Contest: Black & White

Posted by Meg

Carol, who has done some incredible contest art and cosplay in the past, enters the Skull Throne Cover Contest with this entry:

Hi, I’ve designed a very simple black & white cover using a repeated skull picture. I tried using the computer to put it together but in the end it was easier to cut and paste in the real world!

I love the simple, black and white design that Carol used for her entry. The drawing of the skull is beautifully done. Awesome job!

All the entries are in! We will be announcing the winners soon. You can check out all the covers on Facebook.

ST Cover Contest: Mia’s Skull Throne

Posted by Meg

Superfan Mia has created some spectacular fan art in the past, including this stunning Sharik Hora that won the Homemade Heroes Contest.

Clearly, she isn’t done amazing us with her artwork. Check out her entry for the Skull Throne Cover Contest:

Since I can’t draw to save my life, I had to create what I had in mind. It stands about a foot high from the base of the pedestal to the top of the skull (I included a few photos). I digitally tweaked the mock-up to make my cover entries. Hope you like them.

Wow. As usual, Mia brings something unique to the table. This model is awesome, and I love the addition of the ward circle and skull for the back cover. Fantastic job, Mia!

The contest is now closed, but we still have a couple of entries to show off. You can check out all the covers on Facebook and Pinterest.

ST Cover Contest: Coreling Prince

Posted by Meg

Scott had the awesome idea of putting a coreling prince on his Skull Throne cover. Here’s what he had to say about the process:

I got the idea of using the skull of a Coreling Prince as a cover, when Arlen killed one of the mind demons at the end of The Dessert Spear. Charcoal has always appealed to me as a medium even though it’s a bit of a bugger. I figured the skull would be old and slightly damaged as no one has probably managed to kill a mind demon for centuries. I’m hoping that Arlen and Jardir will take the fight to the demons and enter the core in this book so that’s why I added ‘The Core is Calling…’

Beautiful. I love the use of charcoal, and the striking mind ward of the coreling prince’s skull. Fantastic work, Scott. Thanks for entering!

The contest is now closed, but we still have a few more entries to show off. You can check out all the covers on Facebook.
