Tweephole #20

Posted by Meg

The Wear Your Wards Contest kicked off a summer full of writing, office moves and new releases. So far, the 3rd issue of Red Sonja Unchained is out, the Unfettered Anthology as well as the Polish translation of The Daylight War.

  • @PVBrett – No one wants such a thing. RT @arrhyth_mia: Looks like someone’s been practicing his poses. Could it be for the Men of SFF 2013 calendar?
  • @PVBrett – There are few things I enjoy writing about more than ancient, one-armed Damaji Aleverak busting some young upstart’s ass.
  • @PVBrett – Questioned on profanity from backseat, Cassie allegedly replied, “That’s what my daddy says when there’s cars in the way.” #raisingthemright
  • @PVBrett – Found this pic of @MykeCole after winning Writers of the Future, circa nineteen-holyshitlookhowyoungheis! http://t.co/72erlTQvUZ

Myke

  • @PVBrett – Moving offices. Sorting boxes. Expect a lot of pix today. Like this box of obsolete tech: http://t.co/Q1QjVjwfxz

  • @PVBrett – This now hangs on the wall of my old High School. It’s a… bizarre feeling. http://t.co/35e02bzImh

High School plaque

  • @PVBrett – Far too many people survived the season finale of GoT. I am kind of dissatisfied. Been waiting on some of those deaths all season. Meh.
  • @PVBrett – Forgot my phone on the way to drop Cassie at school. Felt naked. Exposed. Vulnerable. Worst of all, I COULDN’T TWEET ABOUT IT!
  • @PVBrett – One of the great ironies of NYC: the more upscale the neighborhood, the more its sidewalks reek of dog excrement.
  • @PVBrett – I spend so much goddamn time just trying to keep track of the ages of Jardir and his sisters’ kids. This is why polygamy is a bad idea.
  • @PVBrett – Two hours of Krasian genealogy research has at last yielded the tiny piece of information I need to write this scene properly. #skullthrone
  • @PVBrett – I hadn’t anticipated Ashia becoming such a compelling character, but she steals every scene she’s in. #skullthrone
  • @PVBrett There’s are rumors of early demon sightings in Poland… now confirmed. http://t.co/9vCvw49zQx

Polish Daylight Wars

  • @PVBrett – Have to do a skype call in a few minutes. Better go put on pants… #writerslife
  • @PVBrett – Surprising how many people think it’s OK to Skype chat without pants on. Standards, people!
  • @PVBrett – The Polish Demon Cycle books are gorgeous, inside and out: http://t.co/I6FZUkg7qE

Demon Cycle Poland Spines

  • @PVBrett – There may have been a squee when I began reading my advance copy of Republic of Thieves by @scottlynch78 last night. May. And a manly one.
  • @PVBrett – Had a dream I was Jon Snowed into becoming president of #SFWA. The feeling was part OH, THE POWER & part “Man, I don’t have time for this.”
  • @PVBrett Jeans, nice sneakers and a plain black tee. In NYC, this means, “I don’t know what dress code to expect and am playing it safe.”
  • @PVBrett – This Ashia chapter has used some kind of osmosis to multiply into three. #SkullThrone
  • @PVBrett – Flashback done well can be extremely powerful, but can exhaust writer and reader both.
  • @PVBrett – Happy to join forces w/friends at Penguin but still disappointed we won’t be called Random Penguin or Penguin House: http://t.co/LN3abe1y5n
  • @PVBrett – Wrote a 400 word stepsheet for a B&D novella I will likely never write. Stars young Erny & Elona Paper. #FiftyShadesofCutter
  • @PVBrett – Mudboy review quote: It was quite good, well written; & helps as a tie-over while waiting for book 4. Plus, it included bacon! @Becca_Lovatt
  • @PVBrett – Nice con shirt haul from UO today. By ‘con shirt’ I mean shirts I wear every day, & also with a blazer at SF cons…http://t.co/SMsGwkNPZe

nerdy con shirts

  • @PVBrett – 621 words on a 40min subway ride. Still the fastest way to write. #skullthrone
  • @PVBrett – I’m in a “This book will be awesome!” mood after untying a difficult story knot. Just a few 100 of those to go…#skullthrone

Fan Art: Pillow-Dancing Inevera

Posted by Meg

Katie has been creating some pretty top notch fan art over the past couple months. I love her style of drawing … it really brings scenes and characters from the Demon Cycle to life. Here is her latest creation, a mesmerizing drawing of Inevera pillow-dancing.

Reviews New and Old

Want to see what other people thought of The Daylight War? Check out these reviews from some seriously awesome book blogs.

The-Daylight-War-Covers

Laura from Book Chick City gives The Daylight War 5 stars.

” … this book gave me genuine goosebumps, his character portrayals are excellent, his plotting immensely clever and battle scenes epic.”

Stanley from Stanley Riik’s Blog reviews The Daylight War, explaining his indecision about reading fast to get to the end or slowing down to savor every page.

“The books thus far have given us a massive history, we watch the characters grow and develop, and this is the key to drawing you in. This feels more like watching a life, rather than following a plot.”

About time for a re-read? Check out these new reviews for The Warded Man.

Ancrathian’s review of The Warded Man has a fantastically detailed description of Arlen, Leesha and Rojer as they are at the beginning of the series. Check out this review if you are looking for a little humor.

“This 2am page-turner will take you on a Final Destination roller coaster, and as you plummet into the plot you’ll find yourself forced to take impossible sides, question morals and experience the horrors of a Demon horde.”

Summers are great for re-reading series. What’s on your summer reading list?

Check out this awesome sketch that davidca147 posted to DeviantArt. An awesome take on The Warded Man cover. I love how in David’s version, Arlen looks like he almost wants to crack a smile. Great work!
