Check out this hilariously honest review on Before It’s News: The Daylight War: Breeeeeeeeeetttt!

I really, really want to say, Don’t Read This Book. Honestly. No sarcasm. No humor. That’s my first instinct. Because it’s bad? No. Because it disappoints in comparison to the first two, each of which I’ve given 4.5 stars to? No. No, the reason my first instinct is to say don’t read it is simple — because you’re going to want to read Book Four immediately. And at this point, there is no Book Four. The bastard.

Civilian Reader gives us his take on Inevera, pacing and plot in Peat’s third book.

The third book in the series continues to build on the excellent foundations of The Painted Man andThe Desert Spear, as the story moves ever forward. This is an addictive, immersive and excellent fantasy novel.

Tor.com dives into the worldbuilding, theme and fantasy in a review Rob Bedford.

Along with Brandon Sanderson and Daniel Abraham, Peter V. Brett is at the forefront of purveyors of epic fantasy whose teeth were ground on the likes of Robert Jordan, George R.R. Martin, Terry Brooks, and David Eddings…in other words, with The Daylight War, he’s at the top of his game.

Fan Art: Leading Ladies

Posted by Meg

The Daylight War is the first of Peat’s book to feature one of his female characters (the mischeivious Inevera) on the cover. It also relies heavily on Renna, Inevera and Leesha’s POVs. So, it’s awesome to see some fan art featuring the three leading ladies of the Demon Cycle.

I can’t say enough good things about this painting. Inevera’s outfit is beautiful, Renna looks fierce and Leesha looks poised but strong. Makes me excited to see what they will be up to in The Skull Throne. Amazing job!

Wear Your Wards: Box & Necklace

Posted by Meg

Caroline, who has made some pretty fantastic fan art in the past, entered the Wear Your Wards Contest with this awesome necklace enclosed in a warded wooden box. Check it out.

Warded Box

Here is what she has to say about her entry:

A simple wooden box, originally birch painted with acrylic paint and a coat of varnish. The little cushion on the inside is handmade, from felt and hours of trying to figure out how to stitch a ward in there. The necklace is only a sample of what could be put in the box. I made it years ago and added wards on it for the “wear” part. But really, it’s the box. The box is what I wanted to make.

Beautifully crafted and created. I would love to ear that warded necklace and the white painted wards look stunning against the  wood.

There are still a couple days left and lots of prizes to win! Check out the guidelines for the contest and get your entry in by Saturday at 11: 59pm.
