Warded Man Giveaway – Hobbit Premiere

Posted by Meg

In anticipation of The Daylight War hitting the shelves on February 12th, Del Rey has been spreading the word of The Demon Cycle by giving away copies of The Warded Man. If you haven’t already, check out Peat’s Facebook Page on Wednesday afternoons for our weekly giveaways.

Another giveaway occurred one late Thursday night in the lines to see the biggest fantasy film production this year: The Hobbit!

Del Rey street teams hit up major movie theaters in Chicago, Boston, Portland and San Francisco as fantasy fans lined up. Check out the pictures.

Pimp yo’ Reader: Entries & Winner

Posted by Meg

The quickie contest Pimp yo’ Reader entries are in and the winner has been chosen!

Joveth, who was the very last person to enter, wins with his adventurous iPad 2 case. Both Peat and I loved this cover, especially with that glowing Desert Spear peeking out from inside.

Congrats Joveth! We will be sending you your very own signed Great Bazaar.

We got lots of entries. Here are our favorites.

Grace wanted this gear-covered steampunk case even more than her Kindle!

Something a little more colorful from Lisa with this celestial skin for her Kindle Fire.

Whose been reading your e-reader? Joe’s Kindle has had a very special guest as of late. Check it out.

How cool is it to have the very first page of Alice in Wonderland on your e-reader? I know I would just want to keep reading …

Long time contest-entrant and generally awesome fan Carol has decorated her Kindle with wards. Looks like favorite e-books will be protected throughout the night.

And it wouldn’t be a contest without the incredible Mia whose e-reader is adorned with leftover miniature skulls from her Sharik Hora that she built for the Homemade Heroes Contest last year, signed notes from her favorite authors and, of course, wards.

Mia made her case a while ago and also owns the prize. So, we will simply gaze at her lovely warding work this time instead of scrambling to find her a prize she doesn’t own.

I am a fan of all these e-readers and wish mine looked just as fancy.

The Daylight Tour Pt. 2: UK Tour Dates

After ten days on the road and in the sky for my U.S. Tour, I will have a weekend to kiss my daughter and sort my mail before flying off to the U.K for the second leg of the Daylight Tour. I was planning to have an extra day at home, but there were so many requests from readers for a Manchester stop that the publisher and I agreed to add one at the last minute.

Some of the following are ticketed events (which I assume means you are welcome to bring your own books to be signed), and others are free. Please understand that I don’t control this aspect of things. Regardless, you are encouraged to spend a little money at the hosting bookstores if you can. In today’s age when it is so easy to order things online, we quickly forget what wonderful things like signings, readings and other events, that physical bookstores bring to our communities. Support them now, rather than miss them once they’re gone.

Here are the details:

Monday Feb 25th – MANCHESTER, U.K.

Join me for an evening at Waterstones in Manchester with a reading from The Daylight War followed by a signing.

Time: 7:00pm

Call 020 7420 3666 to reserve a signed copy!

Wednesday Feb. 27th – MILTON KEYNES & BIRMINGHAM, U.K.

LUNCHTIME EVENT at Waterstones in Milton Keynes where I will sign copies of The Daylight War.

Time: 12:00pm

Thursday Feb 28th – Bath, U.K.

I will be at Topping & Company at 7.30pm to discuss and sign copies of The Daylight War. This event is in conjunction with SFX Magazine.

Time: 7:30pm

Place: The Paragon, Bath, BA1 5LS

Contact: 01225 428111

Tickets: £7 / £6 in advance

Friday March 1st – Sunday March 3rd – North Wales

SciFi Weekender – Hafany Mor Holiday Park, North Wales.

Appearances to be announced soon!

After SFX Weekender I will be heading back to NYC for a WHOLE WEEK, before beginning the third leg of the tour, which will include several stops in Germany, culminating in the Liepzig Book Fair. Details for that tour will be posted shortly.

For those of you in the UK who will not be able to make one of these events, there is still hope, as I will be back in October for the World Fantasy Convention in Brighton.

I will be doing a handful of other US conventions as well, and am hoping to make it to Australia at some point this year. Other country visits will depend on what invitations/opportunities crop up from local publishers and booksellers. Ideally, I would like to be able to visit every country where I am published, but due to laws of time and physics, that may never be entirely possible.

Fan Art: Woodie

Posted by Meg

Check out this phenomenal new wood demon art from Marc:

This is what Marc had to say about his art:

My brother in law introduced me to The Warded Man. I haven’t got into a storyline like yours in quite some time. I wanted to send you my rendition of a wood demon your description inspired me to draw. I’d love to see what you think.

I would not want to encounter this woodie on a midnight stroll … I am a fan of how this demon is rendered. The spikes on the back look like twigs from a tree, and the oversized claws remind me of gnarled tree branches. Awesome job!

The Daylight Tour: U.S. Tour Dates

After months of planning behind the scenes, I can finally begin to share details of my upcoming tour to promote the release of The Daylight War.

Some of you may be excited to find I am coming to a place near you, and I hope to get to meet, sign books for, and talk to as many of you as I possibly can.

Others will perhaps be disappointed to discover I am not coming to an event near you. Please do not take this personally.

Planning a book tour that spans multiple countries and continents can be, as you can imagine, quite difficult. Due to my writing obligations and need to be an active parent to a pre-schooler, I have only a limited amount of time I can devote to touring, and thanks to my very good fortune of being published in 21 countries spanning five continents, it is simply not possible to visit everywhere without the aid of Santa Claus.

My publicists in the US, UK, and Germany have been working very hard, taking into account budgets, distance, local reader/bookseller interest and February weather to try and find the best use of the time I could give.

If you will not be able to make one of my US tour stops but would still like a signed book, have you considered asking Meg to send you a signed Demon Cycle bookplate? The cost is on us.

Check out the schedule for the US/Canada Tour leg below. In the next few days we will post dates for the UK and Germany. Later this year I hope to visit Australia and possibly another country as well.
