Missed Peat at this year’s NYCC? Don’t fret! We’ve got you covered. Peat appeared on a panel with seven (yes seven!) other writers to discuss the idea of a Heroes Quest in their writing. While the conversation didn’t exactly cover the panel’s topic, you can listen to Peat and his fellow fantasy writings digging into issues like message, theme and worldbuilding.
The other speakers include: Gwen Reyes, Joanne Bertin, Matt Myklusch, Peter Lerangis, Rae Carson, Sarah Beth Durst, Stefan Bachmann, Steve Bein.
For more on Peat at NYCC, watch his Facebook for an upcoming album of the entire event.
Red Sonja: Unchained, which has already been turned into editors, picks up where the Red Sonja: Blue one-shot left off. Red Sonja will continue to wear her blue fur tunic in place of the classic chain mail bikini. The first part of the series will be out in early 2013 and will hopefully coincide with the launch of The Daylight War.
Check out what Peat had to say about his work writing Red Sonja at NYCC:
I have a reputation for writing strong female characters in my books, but Red Sonja is the Original Gangster where kickass fantasy heroines are concerned. I’ve been reading Sonja comics since I was twelve, so working on the Red Sonja: Blue One-Shot last year was a huge thrill. I immediately asked Dynamite to let me pick up where I left off. The new Red Sonja: Unchained 4-issue series will add new depth to the character as she finds herself with blood on her hands that doesn’t easily wash off, struggling with her inner demons even as a very real one pursues her. It will be a great starting point for new readers, but there will be enough action and classic adventure to satisfy even the most hardcore fans.
Advanced reader copies of Peat’s upcoming book, The Daylight War, will be here in December, so we are starting the contest now!
After the completely awesome Daylight War Covers contest, we wanted to do something that just about everyone could enter. After all, we know that having an ARC of The Daylight War is a very special prize and everyone should have a chance to nab one. So, Peat and his agent came up with the awesome idea of having a video contest.
Desert Spear ARCs from the Desert Spear Arc Contest
Here are the rules:
Rules & Guidelines
All you need is a camera (on your phone, your computer, your digital camera) and a Youtube account
Tell, or show, Peat why you deserve to read The Daylight War in any way you please. You can use costumes, dance, music, other people or props. Adorable kittens. It’s your call. Don’t like being in front of the camera? Make an animation, become the director of a short film. The sky is the limit.
Upload your video onto Youtube and send us the link at contest@www.petervbrett.com. Feel free to tag the video: DaylightWarARC so it is easily searchable.
Or, if you don’t have or don’t want a youtube account, email contest@www.petervbrett.com and we will work out a way to get your video posted. You can make a youtube account here.
Upload your entries by 11:59pm on December 12, 2012 to be considered!
The runner-up prizes will include Great Bazaar booklets and warded dice sets. We will try and get all the prizes out to the winners in time for the holidays but no guarantees!
UPDATE: Don’t forget to email your mailing address as well! We will not share or keep it, just want to make sure the ARCs go out in time for the holidays!
The Daylight War is set to be released on February 12, 2013 in the U.S. and February 11 in the U.K. You can pre-order The Daylight Warhere.
Peat and I can’t wait to see your video entries! Convince us!
@Digibird tweeted her lovely image of Leesha Paper to Peat. It was originally going to be part of her beautiful Daylight War cover, but kept working on it because she is awesome.
The details are great: the quill and cloak. This is very close to how I pictured Leesha when I first read The Warded Man. Fantastic job!
When I look at this picture, one word comes to mind: lengendary. As Peat said, Alren is standing by the fire … like a boss. I have to agree. Not everyone can stand near the fire like that and look so kickass.
