Link Love

Google alerts (and my own obsessive hunt for reviews) has once again provided me with a plethora of links to share with everyone.

First up, my first Polish review is up on a website called CLICK!. You can read a (poorly google) translated version here. It’s an interesting review which compares me to a Polish fantasy writer and seems to be a big thumbs up, if the translation can be trusted.

On the UK side, the Student Union blog of the University of Gloucestershire put up a review of The Painted Man the other day, which describes the world as “hard not to like”.

As you may know, I am nominated for the David Gemmell Legend Award for Fantasy. While there were a great number of nominees and as a very new and unknown author I don’t really expect to win, it’s an honor to be nominated, and there is a discussion board on the award website where people have said some amazing things, like Andrew Guile, who picked up the book when he heard it was nominated, and blew me away with his comments. Voting for the award is open to all and sundry, and begins December 26. Expect me to nag everyone to vote at year’s end.

There have been, of course, a shortage of reviews of The Warded Man, mainly because it will not be released for months still. It seems like an eternity. But they are starting to trickle in, beginning with a mini-review by Liz from My Favourite Books which you can read here on a site called Grasping for the Wind.

Interestingly, the sequel to The Painted/Warded Man, which will (thankfully) be known as The Desert Spear in all English markets, is getting a lot of buzz lately, thanks to the amazing cover by artist Larry Rostant that I posted last week. It made the Cover Porn installment on NextRead, had a nice talk up on artist Aidan Moher’s blog A Dribble of Ink, and a mention on Dark Wolf’s Fantasy Reviews, where he says he will soon be posting a full review of The Warded Man, as well.

If I don’t post again before tomorrow, Happy Thanksgiving, all!

  1. Take a look at the Cover Porn link. . . did you notice that Jardir’s body position on Desert Spear and the hero on the cover of the Rothfuss book are the same?

    Happy Thanksgiving to all.

  5. I am still writing The Desert Spear, I am afraid. It is almost complete, and Voyager in the UK is set to release it late in the summer of ’09, either August or September.

No idea when it will come out in the US.
