Locus Love

issue02_cover577_thumbThe February 2009 issue of Locus Magazine is out, which contains their 2008 Year in Review and Recommended Reading List.

Guess who’s on it?

Long before SF fans had the internets and blogs and online forums to discuss their passion and made recommendations to one another, there was Locus Magazine, a monthly magazine that was part trade publication, part fanzine, and part facebook for the SF crowd. Each issue is full of interviews and essays by some of the biggest names in the genre, as well as more detailed trade information and pictures of industry pros with drinks in their hands at various conventions.

It’s a great honor to have made their recommended reading list, and it couldn’t be timed better, as the issue is right before my US launch. Awesome.

In other news, I received a very positive Featured Review on SF Site yesterday, which was unexpected. You may recall the interview I did for that site some months back (you have to scroll a bit to get to it; there is no permalink to my section).

There was also a nice little nod to The Desert Spear on Realms of Speculative Fiction yesterday, and it looks like the second half of the Polish translation of The Painted Man (Malowany Czloweik) is up for pre-order.

  1. I agree. Martin, you must understand is a perfectionist.
He’s working towards completion, and unlike some authors (Robert Jordan) he doesn’t simply write books and books of filler to milk his fans for money, he could. But he doesn’t and it’s for this precise reason why we all love him and his creations so much.
