Cover Assignment

Hi all. Sorry there’s been nothing to see in the Peephole lately. I promise to correct that starting now. I actually have some great things to post, but I’ve been pulling all-nighters for about two weeks straight to finish the Desert Spear rewrite (done, as of 3am last night!) and have neglected just about everything else in my life.

I’ll be doing an update on the contest, talking about The Desert Spear and The Great Bazaar, and showcasing some other awesome stuff, but for starters, I’d like to share a wonderful e-mail I received from a reader the other day:

Hello Peter !!!

I’m student at the Stevenson College Edinburgh in Scotland. I study photography. Last term we’ve got an assignment for our first digital photomontage project. We were meant to design our own version of an original released book – actually the cover of the book. My first thought was THE PAINTED MAN so I did it. The idea was to use our own photographs to create the cover, so all the images on that are my own work. I attached you a jpeg of that project.

I just wanted you to see it and tell me what you think. Funny thing was that I couldn’t convince any models to shave their head so my friend could paint it along with the body. At the end I did it to myself and shoot it as a self portrait so what you actually see is myself on the cover. I kinda like it cause it’s my first this sort of project. Hope you enjoy it. The book is absolutely brilliant by the way I’m a big fan and I can’t wait to put my hands on The Desert Spear. Well done. And thank you!!!

This is so damn awesome. I can’t believe he shaved his head for it! That’s love. I’m not lying when I say that this is better than some real cover samples that publishers have sent me.
