Word of the Day

Hey all, sorry I’ve been so quiet on the blog lately. In addition to 9 hours a day of jury duty all last week and this, I’ve been proofing 881 pages of Desert Spear copyedits, working on a new Arlen Messenger novellette, trying to close on my new office studio (which I will immediately need to paint and repair before I can move my desk in), working on the outline for The Daylight War (due next month), and making plans to fly out to meet movie people and attend the World Fantasy Convention next month.

Plus the whole husband/daddy thing.

As a result, I have had very little time to myself, and while I have a TON of material I want to blog about, I am usually too fried to get to it. Thankfully, this convergence of stressful events will soon be over, and the Peephole will get interesting again.

In the meantime, I leave you with last Friday’s Word of the Day.

  1. Arghh it’s unbearable waiting for Desert Spear. Also I just finished re-reading Painted Man and decided that Ragen is definitely my second-favourite character…if he doesn’t get to meet up with Arlen again at some point in one of the next books, I will be very upset.

  2. You’ll definitely see Ragen again. Almost every character from The Painted/Warded Man, large and small, makes an appearance in The Desert Spear. Some have big scenes and some are just cameos, but I don’t think I missed anyone’s favorite.

No one is more impatient for The Desert Spear to come out than I am, I assure you. I can’t wait for people to be able to read it. I’ve been keeping the plot secret for 3 years now, and I hate secrets!

  3. I just pre-ordered The Desert Spear on Amazon. I know it isn’t out here in the UK for a while, but I had to be sure I had a copy on order. I’m so excited for it.

I also just recommended The Painted Man to a friend of mine who was looking for something new to read. I came across it entirely by accident on Amazon and I am so glad I did, I fell in love with your whole world! It’s definitely got it’s place on my list of favourites.

Also, I wanted to say congratulations on the book being optioned to be made into a film. I am unbelievably excited about that! Now, all I need to do is figure out who to contact to ask for a part….

  4. Also…any chance we’ll get to read a quick blurb before the book’s actually released? 🙂

  5. Yeah, I’ll probably post a blurb closer to the pub date. The US paperback will contain the prologue, so maybe I’ll get permission to post that.

When I get my advance read copies, I will also have a contest/giveaway on the blog.

Thanks for the kind words, Tracy!

  6. Hi, I read and read and read the Painted Man. I cannot wait for the Desert Spear to come out. Just wondering if he will see his father again, (i enjoy spoilers), if he does will it be happy?

Thank you so much for a wonderful book. I am looking forward to Desert Spear.

I hope all your stresses calm down so you can get back to the fun stuff.

Also one more thing, when do except the movie to be finished/completed whatever. My partner doesn’t read, but he will love the movie.

  7. Hi Kylie,

Thanks! Arlen will definitely see his father again, but no spoilers about what will happen when he does. The movie is still in the option phase, but we have another meeting on it coming up, so hopefully there will be more news soon.
