Awesome Haul

Posted by Meg

While Peat was in Europe, he was handed a large cavas bag from the Voyager UK team commemorating their 15th anniversary. Now, the bag is obviously cool … featuring all sorts of authors such as George R.R. Martin and Robin Hobb, but what was in the bag was much more awesome: Great Bazaar booklets!

As most of you probably know, The Great Bazaar, in print, is very rare. With barely 1200 in existence, US print copies sell for hundreds of dollars, and there is no plan for a reprint. Voyager will be publishing it along with Peat’s other novella Brayan’s Gold in January of 2013, just before the release of The Daylight War, but that will just be a U.K. release.

These little booklets were part of an exclusive Waterstones giveaway to promote the paperback release of The Desert Spear. A very limited number of select stores bundled them with the paperbacks. Like the US printing, there are few in existence, and fans have hunted them all over the UK.

We have five to give away, but Peat and I, stumped as to what sort of contest to do, decided to ask for your help with a poll. Have an opinion? Make sure you click the contest you would like us to run. The poll will be up for a full week, so select your choice by September 11!

  1. Peat,

I was thinking that you should make a cameo in “The Daylight War” for Joffrey Baratheon just so we can see him get mauled to death by a rock demon.

    Let me know your thoughts.

Also, you are the man, I know you know this….but it is true.

    V/R,

    Naz

  3. I’ve found the Great Bazaar on Amazon UK for £9,764….
So how can I get my paws on this UK release? Will it be in bookshops, or online? Can we pre-order? You’ve got me all excited now, Peat 🙂

  4. I’ve already a signed Polish copy of TGB and Bryan’s Gold at home (Polcon, ftw!), but since I’m planning on getting the original version of all of Peat’s books once TDW becomes available, I guess I’m gonna try to take part in the new contest. Whatever it’s gonna be.

  7. OMG I can’t believe I let Marzena take the booklet! Buying The Witcher for you was my idea. Now I’m even more jealous D: I gotta have one of those (I do have TGB & B’sG but it’s in Polish). 😉

  8. I think the Daylight War cover would be good considering the looming release date. However, any other time I would have chosen a warding contest or a game contest. Perhaps something which involves creating a painted/warded warrior using a set of wards and a combat style, such as brawler (like gerad cutter), weapons expert (like a krasian warrior), martial artist (like Arlen, the muay thai fighter (dont think I haven’t noticed all those knees and elbows)), herb gatherer/sorcerer, etc.
