Recap: Top Nine Demon Cycle Events of 2015

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! Wishing you all a happy New Year’s Day. Peat recently put up his top nine Instagram pictures of 2015 #2015bestnine:

I thought this was an awesome idea, so I decided to count down my top nine Demon Cycle events of 2015. This list is highly subjective, so if there’s anything I overlooked, feel free to tell me in the comments.

#9 Warded Wednesdays!

This was a fun way to do giveaways. It was awesome giving questions or prompts every week and seeing what people came up with. We couldn’t keep it up every week, but maybe we’ll bring it back sometime in the future.

#8 Warded Tattoos!

Sometimes people get things from The Demon Cycle on their bodies. It’s just about the coolest thing ever. I remember that the first Warded tattoo I saw was Jamie’s palm ward, the same one Arlen has on his hand! This one was done by the talented Ashleigh Webb. image2 (2)

Every time someone sends in a pic of their tattoo, I freak the heck out. There have been a lot of pics, so I’ve done a lot of freaking. Here are a couple that people have sent in 2015:

#7 The Skull Throne!

The Skull Throne was published on March 31, 2015. This is low on the list only because I became Peat’s assistant after it came out, and therefore got to read it immediately. I warned you this list was subjective!

#6 Cassie Costumes!

Cassie has had a lot of costumes over the years, from Wonder Woman to Batgirl to Hawkgirl. This year, she has been killing it as an incredible Lara Croft!

#5 Worldbuilders Fundraiser 2015!

While this isn’t solely a Demon Cycle event, we did help out. So it totally counts. This year, Worldbuilders raised more than $1,250,000 with another $500,000 of money matched. That’s pretty incredible.

We can’t thank everyone enough for the support and generosity. Seriously. Thank you.

#4 Cosplay!

We had some amazing cosplayers in 2015. All of them put hours, if not days and weeks into their clothes, props, make-up, and mad photo-editing skills. Here are just a few:

#3 Drabble Contest!

I have a lot of love for all our contest, but this was my first crack at it. I can still remember the winners: Allie Jones, Joy Conje, Gina, Gianetti, Cassandra Taylor, David Ashton, Mat Mercer, and Destin Lee. You can read all their winning entries here!

See this face? This is the face of someone hoping they’re not going to mess everything up on their first day! My first few posts on the blog were less than superb, but I’d like to think I’ve gotten better since then.

The Great Bazaar Drabble Contest will always hold a place in my heart, and therefore, on this list.

#2 Sneak-Peek of The Core!

On the solstice, Peat released the first chapter of The Core.

It is amazing. Enough said.

#1 Conventions/Signings!

Yeah, this one is a bit of a cheat, but only because it’d be impossible to choose just one. In 2015, Peat went to ConFusion, Emerald City ComicCon, Grim Gathering, London Book Fair, C2E2, Phoenix ComicCon, SF:SE, World Fantasy Convetion, as well as a bunch of signings and author meet-ups.

I’m super excited for the next year. We’ve got a lot planned, from conventions to signings to secret projects that I can’t talk about yet. Peat’s planning to travel across the globe in 2016, so be sure to check our Appearances page and see if he’s coming to a town near you!
