New Contest: Demon Cycle Memes!

Posted by Peat

Hey everyone! It’s been about a million years since I’ve done a blog post, but this one is special. You see, I have a book to give away.

That’s right. You heard me. *A* book. Normally with my fan art contests I give away a bunch of prizes. Inevitably more than I originally promised.

But this isn’t a book you can get anywhere else.

Subterranean Press made a special, leatherbound, illustrated limited edition of my recent novella, Barren. THEY ALSO made a SUPER special edition, housed in a custom warded leather traycase, signed by me and numbered. These gorgeous editions retailed for $250, and considering their rarity, the price may yet climb. There were 52 copies made for readers, and five unnumbered copies sent to me personally.

Five copies is not a lot. I keep one copy of every edition of my books in trust for each of my daughters. One for Cassandra and one for Sirena. PLus one always goes to my mom. One sits on my desk.

That leaves one copy. Just one, I can give away. And what better way to do it than with a fan art contest?

But don’t worry if you can’t draw. Never fear if you’re not a cosplayer, or if your warding hand shakes. This is a contest anyone can enter. I present, The Demon Cycle Meme Contest!

What do we mean by meme you might ask? Well there’s a million choices! There’s been hundreds of fun memes on the internet for years, from mineral-loving goats to Rick Rolls. All of them are fair game in this contest! Put a Demon Cycle spin on your favorite internet meme, or create your own. At minimum, all it takes is a picture and one of the countless apps and websites that will let you put text on it.

To give you some examples, here is a Demon Cycle version of the Distracted Boyfriend meme by Badgerlock Cosplay that made the social media rounds a few months ago:

Just like that, take that meme and make it relatable to the Demon Cycle. Done!

But that’s just one kind of meme. This summoning circle isn’t Demon cycle related, but it does try to use a circle of emojis to solve a very common problem.

It doesn’t take a lot to spin this into something we can all relate to:

Summoning circle, hope this works

There’s also plenty of Demon Cycle art floating around on google images. Just sayin’…

Trust that we will be using the meme definition loosely here, so don’t be afraid to do something off the beaten path. All entries are valid entries.

Send entries to contest@www.petervbrett.com until June 1, 2019!

And TBH, if a bunch of these really make me laugh, I’ll still probably end up giving out runner’s up prizes…
