Hey everyone! If you haven’t checked out the Facebook Album with all of the diorama entries, you really should. It’s freakin’ awesome. In the meantime, we’ve got a 3-in-one entry to show off!

Dave Emma put together not one, but three separate entries. They use legos as the base and are really cool/creative. Check them out:

Rojer and Count Thamos fight in the naked night outside Deliverer’s Hollow. Goblin King is the Rock Demon, Cave Troll is a Stone, Ursula is a Water, the Wargs are snow and wood, and the black bat is a wind. While the demon species don’t match, this scene is from an early chapter of The Daylight War.

This is so awesome! I especially love that it seems to have been taken at night.

I would not want to get in the middle of this fight. I’m really digging the lighting in this pic and Leesha’s cloak is just to die for.

And for fun, a possible ending of The Core. A demon prince and his mimic bury a dead and rotting Jardir. This time they’ll make sure NOBODY finds the relics of Kajii. It could happen.

Hmm, interesting prediction, Dave. We’ll see whether it comes true… thanks so much for the entries, Dave!

Hey everyone! Thanks so much to everyone who entered the Core ARC Contest.  The Diorama Facebook Album is now officially complete, but there are still a bunch of submissions to show off. We’ll be posting the last of them today and tomorrow while Peat makes the hard decides about the winners.

For this one, we’re paying tribute to one of the most controversial (and one of my personal favorite) characters in the Demon Cycle– Inevera.

Raine Cz used American Girl dolls to create a scene of Jadir and Inevera in the pillows.

I chose to use my grandchildrens American Girl dolls. I hope you enjoy. I tried to pull off a pillow dance I put Jadir in a bido and Inevera in her sheer costume.

I never thought about this scene being played out by American Girl dolls, but somehow Raine made it work! I especially love how pretty Inevera’s outfit is. Very well done!

This next one was sent in by Yelie:

  This scene is of Inevera as a 9 year old girl at her *Hannu Pash*. Qeva, a *dama’ting*, rolls the dice to determine Inevera’s future. This is the turning point in Inevera’s life because to everyone’s shock, the *alagai hora* show that she may become the Damaji’ting.

There are so many cool things about this– the outfits, the dice, the wards. The lighting really give the pictures a totally different vibe. My favorite is that last one, with the alagai hora and that gorgeous pale-blue glow.

Karen McMichael sent in this one along with one of the most creative descriptions in the entire contest:

I developed an unexpected fondness for Inevera while reading about her childhood in “The Daylight War”. So my diorama entry shows the forbidden moment in the Chamber of Shadows when she had completed her dice, and instead of ringing the silver chimes, cast them for herself and set herself on the path that would dictate the rest of her life (and much of the plot of the novels!)

I have a notion that the Chamber would be furnished with beautiful rugs and tapestries (like the inner sanctums of most holy places), but Inevera would never have seen them because she worked in darkness. And I also get the sense that while stone-hewn worktables and chairs would have been available, the basket-weaver’s daughter would have been more comfortable carving cross-legged on the floor, so the furniture would have been pushed aside? in favour of a space cleared on a rug that she would never have known the colours of until that first throw.

I’m so in love, both with the entry itself and with the story that came with it. Honestly, Karen puts it so well here, what else is there to say? An incredible entry.

Hey everyone! Today’s specials are the garlic potatoes, the Mahi-mahi, and a big ‘ol hunk of demon meat.

Sophia John sent two sets of entries. This first one honestly had Peat and I in stitches. If I had to guess what sorts of entries this contest would inspire, I would never have guessed Arlen and Renna opening a demon meat restaurant:

  My concept here is a take on Arlen and Renna eating demon flesh. The scene I’ve shown depicts a demon special restaurant by the duo. Set in a forest, this is the only place that serves demon meat. Its unique decor includes a table leg harvested from a demon.

Next up, Sophia sent in this entry of Arlen fighting a demon with some well-made practical effects:

I was struck with an idea to make the shattered glass effect when a demon hits a ward

This is awesome. I love the lighting and how cinematic it looks. Great job, Sophia!

Hey everyone! This is Part 2 of the Arlen/One arm batch of entries. We’ve got some great ones here, so check them out!

Pawel Kochanek starts us off right with a Lego battle of the ages:

I decided to take part in Your competition, because I would realy like to know the further fate of Arlen, Leesha and (I hope) Rojer before the rest of the world. For my work I chose a scene favored I think by many readers – the moment of “birth” of a One Arm. I saw on Your fb profile that someone even added an animation using the same material as me – LEGO – but still I hope my work will please You.

This is awesome! The size difference makes One Arm look terrifying. Plus I’m absolutely in love with One Arms Angry Eyebrows.

Hannah Tomlinson-Jones sent in this entry. Even with the ward circle, I wouldn’t want to be in Arlen’s place right now:

The scene is just before he loses his arm to Arlen. We made this in the middle of the night, in the middle of a forest whilst on holiday with a pen knife and duct tape, in true camping style!

Is there a better way to spend a camping trip? I think not. I love how the choice of rocks really suit it and the surroundings add an earthy element to the scene. Very creative.

Hey everyone! The battle of Arlen VS One-Arm turned out to be a popular scene, so many that I couldn’t fit them all into one post. Today, I’ll be posting two blog posts of featuring the awesome battle between Arlen and One Arm. Here’s Part One:

Our first submission comes in from someone known only as Butt Stallion.

This is nifty! I like how the arm isn’t just disconnected, but instead has that black, spiky, piece to show how it was violently removed.

Next up is David D. who sculpted this entire scene of Arlen and One Arm. That’s right, I said sculpted:

I have recreated a scene that many may have done, but I wanted to be as specific as possible. I took great care in using your exact descriptions and specifications to bring your vision of this specific scene to life. So without further ado, I present the Genesis of One Arm.

This is incredible! We saw some of the in-process pics or Arlen being meticulously sculpted and they’re just… wow. It’s obvious that a LOT of work went into this entry and it really, really, shows. We might have to do a ‘making of’ post of this after the contest.

John Zerne sent in this one which made me afraid of One Arm all over again:

The mediums used are watercolor/and mixed media. Again, we’ve got some in-process pictures that are just stunning to see. I particularly love the details on One Arm’s face and those gorgeous trees in the background. A fantastic submission!
