Summary: Fans of tabletop roleplaying games are no strangers to the written word. Volumes upon volumes of rule systems, area descriptions, character backgrounds, backstories, world histories, magics and physics, and the like are created from scratch for every campaign, across every genre of tabletop gaming. But what happens when playing the game is not enough.

We’ll be updating Peat’s events as they’re confirmed! To keep up with where Peat will be and when, you can always head over to the Appearances page.

Core ARC Contest: Entries Galore!

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! There are just two days left to send in your submissions for the Core ARC Contest. If you’re the type to leave things until the last minute (like yours truly), you’d better get cracking!

Motivated now? Yes? Good. Moving on! We’ve got a couple entries today that I’m stroked to show off!

This one was sent in all the way from across the pond by Volker Land AKA Keno:

Keno

I hope you enjoy my diorama featuring papermade figures of Arlen, Jardir and a demon. Greetings from Germany.

These are awesome. Is it wrong of me to find that demon the perfect blend of scary and adorable? I just love those sharp teeth and how it seems to glow from within.

These particularly interesting entry was sent in by Logan Porter

LoganPorter

Chewy, Antman, Armstrong, Merida and Thor done got into the couzi……wind and field demons ahead!!!

If the last entry’s demon was frightening/cute, this one… is just plain frightening. Imagine having all those ‘field demons’ charging at you in full force. Gives me the shivers.

This submission comes to us from Sarah Lockwood AKA the Critiquing Chemist!

SarahLockwood

Here’s the Critiquing Chemist’s entry into the ARC contest. Arlen’s nightly dance with the infamous one armed rock demon prior to his desert transformation. You’ll have to use your imagination regarding the lighting, as we are claiming it is actually a very bright and illuminating full moon.

Thanks again! We had a great time with this project as I had help from my Mom, Dad, and Grandma who all to scoured the driveway for potential rocks that would work.

How fantastic is this?? The rock demon is incredible, just so frikken incredible. A family effort that definitely shines through. I also love the way the ward circle is portrayed here. Super creative, Sarah!

Please remember to send your entries to contest@www.petervbrett.com by Friday, July 28, 2017. You’re can post elsewhere as well, but only entries sent to the email address will be counted towards the prizes. If you need a refresher of the rules, head on over to Peat’s official post about the Core ARC Contest.

Core ARC Contest: Wind And Rock Demons

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! The next few submissions we got for the Core ARC Contest feature some especially ferocious corelings. Check them out!

These fantastic entries come to us from Marc R.:

MarcR2 MarcR1

Here’s my entry, both a “raw” form and a digitally enhanced – used which ever suits your fancy. Cheers.

I love both versions of this! In either one, the wind demon is absolutely terrifying. The wards on the house and pathway really add something special.

This next one was sent in by Yosef G. AKA Moldy Crow:

YosefGoldgur

Here’s my entry, built with my son’s lego bricks and some printed figures. It shows Gaims and Woron betting which side One Arm will go – east or west, while the demon looks at them menacingly from below. I’ve taken the liberty of taking the diorama and expanding it into new directions. Hope you like it!

What a unique take on the diorama guidelines! I could see this being in a Demon Cycle adventure game. Very awesome.

Core ARC Contest: Demon Attacks

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! Following up on yesterday’s post, we’ve got another batch of awesome entries from the Core ARC Contest. These ones feature demon attacks. Check them out!

Two submissions came to us from Devon Ward. I have to say, they fall on the more inventive/quirky side:

DevonWard1 DevonWard2

Humor can fix many of life’s imperfections.

I love the personality in these shots. I still wouldn’t want to be trapped inside that house though…

This next entry was sent in by Anderson Tiago:

AndersonTiago

The Painted Man saves a village from demons

I really like this one. The poses, the ward circle, the layout… plus that background is absolutely perfect. Very, very, cool.

Core ARC Contest: Digital Diorama

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! Next up on the Core ARC Contest, we’ve got a particularly interesting couple of submission. One might even say the creator was thinking…. outside the box (I’m so sorry).

Instead of doing a traditional diorama, Sam Cantwell created a digital version. Check it out!

SamCantwell2 SamCantwell3

This is a quick replication of the scene where Rojer is alone in the pitch black, and has nothing but his fiddle and his bloody fingers to keep him company until the sun rises – when I first read this scene, it hit me hard and was the only time (at that point) that I had ever paused reading to reflect how fucking epic that moment was. Thank you.

These are absolutely gorgeous. Click on the images to see them at their full size.

Sam also sent in a cheat-sheet on how he got those awesome moonlit shadows:

SamCantwell1

I’ve also attached a BTS photo that shows different angles with the moonlight and camera in case you’re interested. I suspended half a dozen trees midair to achieve the shadowed result in the final render.
