Still Life Contest: Brazilian Entries Part 2

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone!

This is part two of the submissions for the Still Life Contest we got from Marcelly. Check them out!

Marcelly Nascimento8

A nice little bit of The Desert Spear along with some of the swag that comes with it from Darkside.

Marcelly Nascimento5

I love the colors in this shot. Those deep, rich, purples are especially lovely.

Marcelly Nascimento6

This picture is really nice. I like that it shows off just a hint of those beautiful wards Darkside put on the inside cover of the books. Utterly gorgeous.

Marcelly Nascimento7

Gorgeous shot. I love the cameo from the Darkside skull logo, it’s very appropriate. Chomp!

Thanks so much to Marcelly for sending in all these wonderful entries. We’ll have more coming soon, so if you haven’t seen yours yet, it may be soon to come.

Still Life Contest: Brazilian Entries Part 1

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! Marcelly Nascimento sent several submissions for the Still Life Contest. You might recognize the name from the O Protegido Ward Contest we had back in 2015.

There’s a bunch of awesome stuff from Marcelly, so we’re going to break the entries up. Part two will be going up tomorrow.

Marcelly Nascimento1

A palm warded in honor of the Deliverer. Always a classic, always very, very cool.

Marcelly Nascimento2

I’m not going to lie, Darkside’s versions of The Demon Cycle books are just incredible. Plus they give out tattoos and bookmarks and all sorts of swag. Absolutely gorgeous.

Marcelly Nascimento3

The backdrop for this shot (and the one before) are just lovely. I really like the play between light and shadows.

Marcelly Nascimento4

This is a gorgeous shot. Again, I really love Darkside’s publication of The Demon Cycle. They really did an amazing job.

Still Life Contest: Warded Man Meets Iron Man

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! Here’s our next batch of entries from the Still Life Contest. Get pumped!

Martin Forbes sent in this shot all the way from Germany:

Martin Forbes

My little Collection of the Deamon Cycle ?

I, for one, am thrilled with how many foreign entries we got for this contest. The Demon Cycle’s march for world domination continues! Thanks so much to Martin for sending this in.

These next two are from Nathanael Groves:

Nathanael Groves2

Nathanael Groves1

A couple of photos of Iron Man and his best friend R2-D2 looking very interested in The Daylight War.

I love the colors and humor in these shots. Plus it has The Warded Man meets Iron Man, which is a teamup that needs to happen. Seriously. I would pay big money to see that crossover.

Baby Caption Contest: Reminder

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone! I’m taking a quick break from posting entries from the Still Life Contest to remind everyone about Peat’s mini-contest.

Last week Peat put up a picture of his baby (I’ve hung out with her and can confirm 10/10 adorableness in person).

Screen Shot 2017-05-14 at 4.43.52 PM

Whoever replies to his post with the best caption gets a signed book. If you haven’t already put something up, you can reply here.

Please reply to Peat’s Instagram post. Replies to this blog post will not be counted. Good luck!

Still Life Contest: Hungarian Books Entry (Part 2)

Posted by Karen

Hey everyone!

This is part two of the massive amount of submissions Krisztina sent in for the Still Life Contest. Starting next week we’ll go back to getting the entries of multiple people out in one day. For now, check out these awesome still life pics:

Krisztina Toth1

I love this. You can tell lot of thought went into the layout and coloring of this shot. It really came out well.

Krisztina Toth3

In the last post, I mentioned how the Warded Man covered looked good against hay. Again, I think Krisztina chose the perfect book for the terrain.

Krisztina Toth4

Goodness, I hope this shot didn’t have too many takes. Holding up all those heavy books would make my wrist tired! This is an awesome picture (and if anyone knows where to get that bracelet, let me know because I want one).

Krisztina Toth5

I’m really digging the shadow-play here. Very appropriate for The Demon Cycle.

Krisztina Toth6

A horse makes a guest appearance here. Perhaps some acquaintance of Twilight Dancer?

Krisztina Toth7

I’ve tried to get this book-origami effect with some of my own and let me tell you– it’s not as easy as it looks. The fact that Krisztina managed to get it and make it stay in place long enough to snap a picture is really impressive!

   Krisztina Toth12

I don’t know where this last shot is, but I want to take a nap there on that green, green grass. Beautiful.

Krisztina Toth9

I would like to enter the Still Life Contest with these pictures. I uploaded them to my Instagram account too – my username is @girlwithoutwingsbooks. I hope you are going to like them. 🙂

If you’d like to see more of Krisztina’s photography work, feel free to browse their instagram! We’ll be putting up more entries later on this week, so if you haven’t seen yours yet, be sure to check back.
