This is so cool. I love the purple watercolor effect and how the shadows on the cloak do indeed make Arlen appear mysterious and ghost-like. Very cool!

Artists have been showing off their finished Inktober pieces now that October is over. As all the lovely inked art makes its way online, we’ve been delighted to see more Demon Cycle Inktober pieces as well! Today I want to show you all one excellent inked Arlen by scared.sue!
I love the bold use of ink in this illustration! There’s a dark, heavier use of ink in the cross hatching of shadows, and a bold use of black to make each ward on Arlen’s skin. There’s also some gorgeous typography Scared.Sue used for the Inktober prompt of that day: Ornament! It’s a fitting prompt for a man covered in wards. I’m sure you all know the incredible work of Dominik Broniek, illustrator for the amazing pieces in both the Polish translations of Peat’s books, and the gorgeous 10th Anniversary Edition of The Painted Man. Well recently we got to see what a ‘quick sketch’ looks like from this talented artist. Take a look at this incredible piece by Dominik Broniek!
This is absolutely stunning! Dominik is a master of line work, and here is no exception. What might seem like random squiggles when close up actually create complex texture and shading, as they do here with Arlen’s cloak.
