EBook Unfettered Anthology

Posted by Meg

As you might have seen yesterday on Peat’s Twitter or Facebook, the Unfettered Anthology is now out in Digital Format! Get it on your Nook or Kindle! Check out the official update from Grim Oak Press.

Unfettered Cover

Don’t know what Unfettered is? The short version: a fantastic new fantasy anthology with some amazing short stories by contemporary fantasy authors, including Peat! Want for info? Check out the blurb:

You define life or it defines you.

In Shawn Speakman’s case, it was both.

Lacking health insurance and diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2011, Shawn quickly accrued a massive medical debt that he did not have the ability to pay. That’s when New York Times best-selling author Terry Brooks offered to donate a short story that Shawn could sell tohelp alleviate those bills—and suggested he ask the same of his other writer friends.

Unfettered is the result: an anthology built in order to relieve that debt, featuring short stories by some of the best fantasy writers in the genre.

Twenty-three tales comprise this incredible collection, and as the title suggests, the writers were free to contribute whatever they wished.

Here is the mind-blowing table of contents:

– Foreword by Patrick Rothfuss
– Introduction: On Becoming Unfettered
– Imaginary Friends by Terry Brooks
– How Old Holly Came To Be by Patrick Rothfuss
– The Old Scale Game by Tad Williams
– Game of Chance by Carrie Vaughn
– The Martyr of the Roses by Jacqueline Carey
– Mudboy by Peter V. Brett
– The Sound of Broken Absolutes by Peter Orullian
– The Coach with Big Teeth by R.A. Salvatore
– Keeper of Memory by Todd Lockwood
– Heaven in a Wild Flower by Blake Charlton
– Dogs by Daniel Abraham
– The Chapel Perilous by Kevin Hearne
– Select Mode by Mark Lawrence
– All the Girls Love Michael Stein by David Anthony Durham
– Strange Rain by Jennifer Bosworth
– Nocturne by Robert V.S. Redick
– Unbowed by Eldon Thompson
– In Favour with Their Stars by Naomi Novik
– River of Souls by Robert Jordan & Brandon Sanderson
– The Jester by Michael J. Sullivan
– The Duel by Lev Grossman
– Walker and the Shade of Allanon by Terry Brooks
– The Unfettered Knight by Shawn Speakman

Luke Fielding: Author Portrait

Posted by Meg

Luke Fielding, renegade demon artist, and all around awesome fan and artist has been working on something a little different and not quite so terrifying. (See scary demon posted on the blog last week).

Based on Peat’s latest profile pic, Luke has been updating us on his latest portrait. This time, there is color!

 Colorful Peat Portrait Luke Fielding

Luke says it’s a work in progress, but I love the unfinished quality about it, and the intense colorful boarder. Awesome work, Luke!

Be sure to check out Luke’s website for more amazing art.

Fan Art: Warded Clogs!

Posted by Meg

Kym has been a busy bee in 2013. She has created warded cat collars, gorgeous wooden clocks and pieces as well as a Demon Cycle game. And now, she has created her cutest warded item to date: miniature warded clogs.

I am loving the bright red paint, and the clogs themselves are beautifully done. Kym is a master woodworker of all small things. The wards are expertly painted.

Here is what Kym had to say about the process:

A pair of miniature clogs that I wood burned wards onto, wards are magical symbols from the awesome Demon cycle books by Peter V. Brett, some of my all time favourite book. Each clog has 9 wards, an impact one on the toes and a bludgeoning one on the heels in case of corelings attacks.

Great job, Kym. Now, who is tiny enough to wear them?

Be sure to check out more of Kym’s art here.

The first part of Wojna W Blasku Dnia was released at the beginning of April. Fabryka used the beautiful UK Larry Rostant cover, coloring it red for the second part. Dominik Broniek, as always, creates stunning illustrations. Here is just a small sample.

Be sure to check out this recent interview Peat did with Wiadomosci 24 in Polish. Peat answers talks about his inspiration for the Krasian culture, how long it takes to write a book and gives some hints about the next two books in the Demon Cycle.
