Here is a simple but striking entry from Peter S.

A lot of our entries so far have had lots of backgrounds of skies at dawn, and this one does not disappoint! I like the pararlell between the golden ward on the back of Arlen’s head and the bright sun hanging just above it. Fantastic job!

Tonight, Peat and Myke are hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit for epic fantasy author Brad Beaulieu. He just finished his third book, The Flames of Shadam Khoreh, and it is due to come out April 13, 2013 as the final book in the series.
The AMA officially starts at 8pm CST, but feel free to start post questions now if you won’t be around during the evening. The AMA will start with Brad answering a few of the questions Peat and Myke have up their sleeve and then move on to fan questions and general author banter. While this is Brad’s AMA, Peat will be answering a few questions as well, so feel free to ask away.
Want to participate but don’t know how an AMA works? Follow these steps, and you’ll be good to go.
1. Create a username on Reddit in order to ask a question.
2. Visit the Brad Beaulieu AMA anytime today or live tonight at 8pm CST. Read the intro at the top and post your question (or questions) in the comments. You might see Peat & Myke firing away some starting questions throughout the day.
3. Reddit uses a pretty simple ‘upvote’ and ‘downvote’ system. See a question you want Brad, Myke or Peat to answer? Click the arrow to the upper left of the question to upvote it! The authors will answer the most popular questions first.
You can also just click the Brad Beaulieu AMA link to follow along with questions and answers.

Next, an entry from fan Lorenzo with his own Inevera cover.

Check out what Lorenzo has to say about his cover:
Here’s my Inevera interpretation. My copy of The Desert Spear included the Inevera preview and I loved it. I just have a feeling that we are going to love Inevera the moment we have The Daylight War in our hands.
Anyway, this is my model friend Cristine who I shoot a lot of photography with. And she’s totally fine with me using her image on my portfolio and in this case for this contest piece. 🙂 I think the Filipino brown skin fits well with how I imagine Krasians to be.
Beautiful cover! Christine is definitely channeling some of Inevera’s badass intensity, and the background and font bring the whole thing together. Superb job, Lorenzo!

Here we have an entry from Marzena who meet up with Peat this past August at Polcon. Check it out!

Here’s what Marzena had to say about her cover:
Working on the cover entry was a great fun 😀 I remember from Polcon that many events revolve around Inevera in the the third book, so I made her in the center of attention. I also have a hunch that she’s not only a powerful woman, but also a manipulator who is going to have a huge impact on the conflict between Arlen and Jardir. I tried to reflect this idea in the drawing.
It’s awesome to see the way Inevera might be controlling Jardir’s actions visually. What a complex and thoughtful idea to put to paper and beautifully realized.
The contest might be over, but there are still entries to post! Check back daily to see more Daylight War covers.

We saw a sneak preview of Dwayne’s entry to the Daylight War Cover Contest on Peat’s Twitter and Facebook a couple weeks ago, but Dwayne has made a lot of changes since then. Check out his blog post on how he made his Daylight War cover.

Original drawing by Dwayne

Final Cover
I think what I like the most about Dwayne’s cover is the drama of the sky compared with the figures below. Very ominous. Check out what he had to saw about his cover:
Characters are hand drawn and coloured then scanned into the computer. Background is a personal photo that was altered via the computer then combined with the drawing.
The Daylight War Cover Contest is over, but feel free to send in your covers anytime and we will feature them on the blog! Also, make sure to check out all the awesome entries.
