TDW Cover: Photomanip

Posted by Meg

The next entry, and our first photo-manipulation, for the DW Cover Contest comes from @JLSelby. You also might know Joseph from winning 3rd prize in the Coreling Contest.

The intensity of the photo is great: the girl’s eyes against the bright, sun-drenched background. Also, love the blurb at the top. Excellent job!

TDW Cover: Dangerous Inevera

Posted by Meg

A stunning new entry from @Digibirdy of Inevera looking like she’s about to slice open a coreling throat.

Beautiful! My favorite part about this cover is the way the colors are highlighted and blend together. Awesome job!

Here what Digibird had to say:

Originally she was part of a much larger painting, however I quickly realised it was a case of biting off a lot more than I had time to physically sit down and chew.

I know she should really have a spear not a sword, but the bigger painting has a prominent spear so, glowing blue sword it is. I also spent time blocking out a few other chracters that don’t actually appear here, but to be honest Rojer looks like he’s been in a car(t) accident at the moment……

Check out the other amazing entries and make sure you have pre-ordered your very own copy of The Daylight War, coming out February 12, 2013 in the US.

TDW Cover: Entry from Poland

Posted by Meg

Here is our first entry from Poland. The artist is Katarzyna who met up with Peat at Polcon this year! Check out what she had to say:

I would like to present my own cover of “The Daylight War”, I hope you’ll like it. 🙂 I figured that since the third book is going to concentrate on Inevera she should be on the cover. 🙂

My favorite thing about this cover is the bright colors Katarzyna used: the purples and greens for Inevera’s costume and the deep red of the curtain. It really makes everything pop!

The day after Blackwell’s High Fantasy Night, Peat hit the streets of London to sign books with Mark Lawrence and celebrate Myke Cole’s book launch of Control Point in the U.K.

UK Daylight War Cover Shoot

Posted by Meg

The UK Daylight War cover is in progress! Check out these behind the scenes photos of a photo shoot Peat’s publisher ran with cover artist Larry Rostant, who has done a lot of art for Fantasy and Sci-fi books in the past.

During the four hour shoot, the model, channeling a familiar looking character, tried a bunch of different costumes and poses. Seems like a lot of the Daylight War covers submitted so far had the right idea!

We can’t wait to see the finished product! In the meantime, create your own version of a cover for The Daylight War and win one of five rare Great Bazaar booklets that Peat picked this summer at Polcon. Check out the rules and guidelines and get your entry in tonight by 11:59pm.
