Peat & Myke Host Brad Beaulieu AMA

Posted by Meg

Remember that time Peat did an Ask Me Anything on Reddit and you had the opportunity to ask him all the random stuff you always wanted? Well, Peat, along with Myke Cole, are going to be back on Reddit hosting an AMA for fantasy writer Brad Beaulieu. They we will be there to introduce Brad and get everything started by asking the first questions. Throughout the evening, you will also be able to ask the hosts questions as well … so start thinking!

Brad’s AMA will be on October 22, 2012 at 7pm CST. We will post a direct link to the conversation closer to the 22th, but for now, check out the fantasy sub-reddit. In the sidebar, you can check out a list of upcoming AMAs with an excellent array of fantasy authors. This is also where the AMA will be posted on the 22th, so don’t forget to upvote, comment and read when the time comes!

Don’t know how an AMA works? Check out the post we did last time Peat was on Reddit. It will let you know how to ask questions and upvote the questions and comments you want Brad, Peat and Myke to see.

TDW Cover: Red Inevera

Posted by Meg

Here is our fourth entry to the Daylight War Cover Contest. Another Inevera cover! I think there might be a fan consensus about who will feature prominently in the third book.

This is a beautifully seductive cover! And I am a fan of Inevera as a redhead, holding her glowing alagai hora almost like a weapon.

Here is what Josephine, the artist, had to say about her cover:

This is inspired by the preview of The Daylight War on the website. I think the book will focus quite a lot on Inevera. I gave her reddish hair because that is the colour I associate her with the most (from the alagai hora’s red shine), and that it takes over her life and changed her from the girl she was. Inevera is also drawn facing the other way and frownig at the sunlight, to show the clash with the Thesans.

Thank you to Josephine for your lovely entry! Want to submit your own Daylight War cover? Check out our contest guidelines and prizes to find out more.

TDW Cover: Margherita’s Inevera

Posted by Meg

The next entry to the The Daylight War Cover Contest comes from the awesome Margherita who has entered and won many other contests in the past.

I am a fan of this cover; the expression on Inevera’s face is incredible. And the detail, the wards and detail on her headdress, are beautiful. Check out what Margherita has to say about her cover:

I don’t have a paperback copy of The Desert Spear (in which, I believe, Inevera’s POV was included), so I actually only JUST read the preview on the website a few days ago. As much as I despised Inevera in TDS, I can’t help but feel a connection after cosplaying her for last year’s contest. She’s my girl, now. And I was soooo excited to be able to incorporate her into my version of The Daylight War cover.

I imagine Inevera having an affect on each of the main characters’ lives and so I concentrated on her. She holds her alagai hora as they display glowing symbols to represent the other characters. Those symbols are my attempt at trying to fit the avatars from the novels into such small spaces. It took a lot of fiddling with Photoshop until I got things right. Or at least as close to right as I could handle.

I really enjoyed working on this project. I’m, once again, so very thankful that we’re given the opportunity to feel like we’re a part of the team.

You can check out Margherita’s amazing, grand prize winning Inevera cosplay here.

Feeling inspired? Submit your very own Daylight War cover by 11:59pm on October 15. Check out all rules and prizes before entering.
