Renna Tanner Cosplay in Progress

Posted by Meg

Ever want to see how a cosplay comes together? @rachelr1977 has been updating her Twitter with exciting new pics of her Renna Tanner cosplay she is planning for Gen Con.

First she posted this beautiful warded necklace, made from river rocks. I love the colors and the precise detail of the wards.

Next, she tweeted this picture of an embroidered ward. Now that is some dedication! Not sure what part of the costume this will be, but it promises to be awesome.

The last tweet we got was a close-up of her warded cloak. It looks to be the corner of her cloak, and I am loving the bright colors of the wards against the coal grey fabric.

I cannot wait to see the whole costume!

Review It Up!

Posted by Meg

Peat recently clocked in over 10,000 reviews for The Warded Man on Goodreads. Back in the day, you had to work for a magazine or a newspaper to be able to share your book reviews with the world. But, with Internet being so widespread and awesome as it is, everyone can share their opinions and thoughts (for better or for worse) on books, authors, publishing and writing.

It also means there is a lot more out there in terms of reviews and a lot more emphasis put on book bloggers when a book hits the shelves, especially when that book is science fiction or fantasy. Justin of Staffer’s Book Review wrote a thought provoking piece on the relationship between bloggers and publishers and what that means for fans and authors alike.

What it comes down to is that bloggers are important, and the reviews they write and post affect both readers and authors alike.

Peat reads all the reviews that he can get his hands on. Here is small collection of some of the lastest reviews floating around out there on the interwebs.

  • To kick things off, we have a fairly unusual book review in the form of a video! Check it out.

Want to write your own review of The Warded Man or one of Peat’s other books? There are a lot of ways to create a space for you and your bookish thoughts on the internet. WordPress, Blogspot and Tumblr are all useful ways to start your very own book blog. Many established book blogging sites are comprised of a variety of writers all over the world, so you can also join a team of bloggers instead of creating your own site. Lots of book blogs have a short application page if you want to become a writer for them. Check out the page for We Heart Reading.

Don’t want a book blog but still want your voice out there? Goodreads makes it super easy to rate books and write your thoughts down to share with the world. You can sign up for an account here. You can also become a fan of Peat and his books and all your favorite authors to keep up with blog posts and what they are reading and recommending. Check out Peat’s Goodreads page here.

Up Close & Personal with a Rock Demon

Posted by Meg

It is my pleasure to post this extremely creepy close-up of a monstrous rock demon by 0Nightmaresdream0. He has done some pretty incredible fan art in the past, so I would advise checking it out. But first, see how comfortable you can be staring into these eyes …

I love the fiery eyes, and how, the longer the look at them, the more terrifying the demon becomes. Beautiful work!
