Renna Cosplay

What is it with Jessicas? Are they just cool by nature? With three entries so far, they are cleaning up in this contest, as you can see from this fabulous new Renna entry. I really love this one:

I’ve got to start out by saying that I’m seriously daunted by the other entries for this cosplay contest. They are, honestly, so fantastic. I’m a costumer by hobby, mostly attending anime and video game conventions running around like an idiot with a smile plastered to my face, so when I was perusing over your site (read: stalking), and the idea of entering a cosplay contest was suddenly lodged in into my frontal cerebral cortex, I had little other option than to heed the call.

I present to you my version of Renna. Had I been able to do this costume a year ago, my hair would have been the perfect length. Alas, as they are wont to do, the stars weren’t in my favor as far as timing, and so my hair isn’t -quite- right, but I was more than happy with the outcome anyway. It was fun, and that is all that matters.

There was no real set up for the picture, other than my friend with the camera telling me I needed to look crazier. Apparently my eyes don’t have a crazy setting, despite my attempts.

Spanish Interview with Scyla

I did a great interview with Scyla a while ago, but haven’t had time to post it. You can find the original Spanish version here, and a google English translation here.

Speaking of Spanish, I also found this great Spanish review of Red Sonja: Blue on Suite 101. It’s definitely worth checking out. You can find a poorly google translated English version here.

Twilight Cosplay

No, not THAT Twilight. I’m talking about Twilight Dancer, the huge stallion with warded horns and barding ridden by the Warded Man, and the latest entry in the Cosplay Contest that ends August 1, two weeks from tomorrow. Already there are a ton of great entries, but there’s room for plenty more! Check out the rules, because the prizes are cool as hell.

I met Sarah in Australia last August when I attended the 2010 Worldcon in Melbourne (have I mentioned that I will be at the 2011 Worldcon in Reno, Nevada next month? I should do a post on that…). Sarah was feeling under the weather, but still managed to pull herself together and come into the city and visit the con to meet me. It means so much to me when people go out of their way like that, and I had a great time talking to and hanging with Sarah. She found me in the dealer’s room thanks to my ever-visible SPEAR shirt, and we had a great chance to talk one on one. She also attended a bunch panels, including a very awkward one where I found myself having to defend ‘sexism in comic books’ against some well-meaning but very poorly informed/read pseudo-feminists.

Anyway, Sarah is all kinds of awesome, as you will see below.

Heya Peat!

I don’t know if you remember me…but I met you as Aussiecon last year. I was the one who was sick but I made my way over to see you anyway and basically followed (stalked) you around for the whole day :). When I saw you were doing a cosplay and you said we could do anyone I got excited. How many people have a horse they can dress up?

So, I give you my beautiful boy Clancy. I apologize for his lack of blackness but my mum refused to let me dye him black (much to my dismay).

I decided to make him a warded saddle and horns, but unfortunately you can’t see the wards on the horns in any of the photos :(. I was going to wrap his legs and neck in “armor” but Clance decided he was sick of being a plaything and started playing up so I had to put a halt to my creation. In case you haven’t guessed that’s me with him in the photos. I couldn’t decide if I was Leesha or Renna pre-wards. Maybe you can decide for me 🙂

I hope you like the photos!!

Sarah

Entry Within an Entry: Take 2

Hot on the heels of French Jess’ Cosplay Contest entry came this awesome submission from Carol in the UK. Carol, as some of you may know, was a winner in the Warding Contest when she warded none other than herself:

You can see hints of the tattoos in her sexy Inevera cosplay. I love how she calls this her ‘first’ entry. I am excited to see more.

Hi, here is my first entry for your cosplay contest. If I was a woman in Krasia I’d want to be Inevera. I bought some colourful scarves and made a velvet pouch for the alagai hora and tried to make my bedroom look a little more exotic with cushions and drapes. Hope this is similar to how you picture her.

Entry Within an Entry

How lucky am I to have Cosplay Contest entries from not one but TWO beautiful Frenchwomen named Jessica? About as lucky as a man can be, I’d say. You may have seen the fabulous cosplay shots last week of Jessica Delloye as Leesha and Sikvah. Now French Jess, has thrown her dice in the ring.

Literally. French Jess has sent in 4 pictures of herself as Inevera, using the warded alagai hora dice she made for the Warding Contest last year. How awesome is that?

Less than two weeks left to enter!

Hi Peat,

Here is my first entry in the contest. It’s not great, but I didn’t had time to do what I wanted to do, and I now want to concentrate on my Renna cosplay, because Renna is my favorite feminin character and I want to do it well. But as I like Inevara a lot, I wanted to do an Inevara cosplay. So here it is. I chose to do Inevara casting the alagai Hora in the privacy of her appartments.
I really hope to finish the Renna cosplay in time, so maybe it won’t be my last entry.
