Inevera Winter Cosplay

Another awesome Cosplay Contest entry, this one from beautiful Zara in the UK.

Love it. Not sure what she’s holding in her hand. Extra points if it’s dice, though they would likely burst into flame in daylight!

Hey,

I thought I’d be Inevera for this cosplay comp. I suddenly had an epiphany of what she would do in winter when Jadir went off to face the Daylight War. Supposing nudism was now out of the question I’ve wrapped myself in brightly covered shawls and donned some funky striped trousers. I also thought the background (that of my back garden in england) was rather striking compared to the clothes.

Cosplay Awesomeness: Take 2

I have a bunch of of half-written blogs about my incredible trip to the Imaginales Festival in France back in May that I have yet to post. One of the highlights of the trip was getting to meet Jacques and Sylvie Delloye, parents of Jessica (one of the winners of the French Contest a few months back). Jacques is the man in the beret standing by a waterfall with a baguette tucked under his arm and a copy of TPM in hand.

Jessica was away at school during my visit, but her parents drove an obscene 15 hours to attend the convention and get her books signed. Sylvie spoke flawless English and had been reading my books as well. We spoke for some time, and a picture of the three of us made the French newspaper article on the festival. I learned that their town in southern France, Oloron, held the last true French beret manufacturer. After meeting little Cassie, they offered to have a beret made for her, and were true to their word. It arrived last week. Here is Cassie in her new “French hat” avec Le Petite Lion (Le roi des animaux):

Now all this would be enough to cement the Delloyes in the annals of awesomeness forever, but there is more! The lovely Jessica is now the second to send in entries in to Cosplay Contest, and they are fantastic. In her own words:

Dear Peter,

I’m back to France and I’ve been delighted to find the books! But have you received the beret ? I hope so, it was sent on June 14th.

I’m sending you some photos for the contest (I do not hope to win anything this time, but I’m just happy to send you some photos).

I’ve been inspired by Leesha gathering herbs, and by Sikvah: I was wondering what she would wear when allowed to dress as she likes. Something less scandalous than her auntie Inevera, but maybe with a bit of transparency nevertheless.

Have a nice day!

Jessica

Reminder: the Cosplay Contest runs until August, so there is still plenty of time to enter!

Warded Wrist

Well, some might say that it is technically a warded inner arm, but I must call it a warded wrist simply because alliteration is amazing.

A while ago, Peat received this touching and awesome email from a fan in Germany.

Hello Mr. Brett,

Yes, I think that every email probably starts with the sentence, that she or he is your biggest fan. 🙂

What else could I write instead? That I really really enjoy your books and hope to read the next one soon? I will make it short. I just wanted to write to you to show you my new tattoo, which surely will save me when demons want to take my soul. 🙂

Really great work. You have created a wonderful world. Thanks for that. You made my
life richer.

Greetings from Germany,

Nadine

I love this tattoo. It’s one of my favorite warded tattoos so far; the lines are just so precise and sharp. Perfectly drawn for maximum demon protection.

Moving on Facebook and Great Fanart

This is going to be another one of those fun posts that have a lot of everything in it.

Peat’s presence on Facebook has moved. As you may know, currently there is an official group page for his fans right now. However, because Facebook has…well, let’s just call them “issues”, the group pages are going to be shut down sometime in the future. At some point (we don’t know when that will be), nobody new will be able to join the group and everything will be pared down. So, Peat’s made the migration over to the Pages format, and you can join his page here. You just hit Like and you’re all set. The photos have been moved over from the old group, but we’ll be adding more as well, for your viewing pleasure. New contests and posts will also be posted on there like they are on the current group.

Also in the news, AdamReese did some great drawings of Arlen, looking kick-ass.

You can find Adam’s DeviantArt account here.

Morgrad, a member of the forums, posted these great pieces of ward art here. They look beautiful. They each remind of art from a different part of the world. The first one looks Middle Eastern to me.

This one looks more Chinese to me though.

This one I wouldn’t be surprised to see as a tattoo, in place of those tribal designs.

And another (very extensive piece).

Desert Spear “Read Brett Yet?” Trailer

My UK publisher released this bit of awesomeness from their “Read Brett Yet?” advertising campaign last month. I twitterfaced it, but was too busy hopping around Europe and getting my arm hacked open to post it to the blog. Enjoy!
