Homemade Heroes: Cake Toppers

This morning I woke up to another teaser entry to the Homemade Heroes Contest, this from Lood in South Africa, who promises to send his official entry soon. If it’s anything like the teaser, It will be awesome.

Hi there,

So on Sunday (10 October) my good friend Dave from DaveBrendon’s Fantasy and SciFi Weblog had his birthday so naturally we had to have a party on Saturday night. I was kind of stumped on what to get the man for his birthday, so I decided I’d bake him a warded cake. One Mexican chocolate cake with fudge toffee icing and a couple of Warhammer Woodelf figurines later I had this:

The Warded Cake. I took the ward designs from your website and adapted them to be icing friendly. Even if I have to say so myself, I was quite pleased with the final result.

I decided on a battle between The Painted Man and a couple of wood demons set in the interlude period in the first book.

With wood demons bearing down on him…

And I added a couple of minor touches:

(The warded stones are  a personal favourite of mine.)

Add a couple of lesser demon onlookers:

I would have included shots from at the party, but unfortunately the ward circle around the cake was broken by a rogue cake knife and the party demons (and a couple of lesser cake demons) got to it before I had my camera ready. The diorama did not survive for too long after that, but the memory of it will live on forever.

Needless to say, Dave loved it.

Regards,

  4. Wow, that is too awesome. Drawing the wards in icing must have been difficult.
