Coreling Comments: Cycling!

Posted by Karen

Springboarding off our blog post from yesterday, we also had this incredible Facebook message from Chantel Fitzsimmons as she roughed it in the Icelandic wilderness. Check it out:

Peter, I finished reading The Skull Throne at the glacial lagoon campsite (see photo) during my cycle tour around Iceland, the land of ice and fire. The final chapters saw me crying and in complete disbelief!

BeautifulLandscape

I must say it’s hard cycling here with the snow and winds and rain and cold and it was words from your previous book that kept me going some days – fear and pain a only wind let it blow past you – and I learned you can keep going long after you think you can’t. Thank you for the courage and for the inspiration. When I return home to Australia I plan to get wards tattooed down my spine as a reminder. You are awesome sir. Any book tours planned for down under or comic con appearances it would be awesome to shake your hand : )

This is a seriously amazing story with such a gorgeous picture at its side! Thanks so much to Chantel for sharing a glimpse of her travels with us. We’re so glad The Skull Throne could add something to an already-beautiful experience.

The U.S. edition of The Skull Throne is on sale here!

Coreling Comments: Cookies and Combat

Posted by Karen

Hey Everyone! We’ve had a lot of awesome comments coming in from Twitter, Facebook, and, of course, in response to the blog. We thought we’d take some time to share some of them! These can be funny, poignant, or anything in between. Check them out!

Some fans took time out of their day just to tell us how much they’re enjoying the series:

Hi so you probably get inundated with messages… but I just wanted to first tell you skull throne is amazing!!! -Rahlee

Hi Peter, just finished the daylight war for the millionth time, literally just finished reading this minute and had to message you and say thank you. I’ve always found myself lost in the wonderful world of fantasy books and yours, by far, are my favourite… -Dominic

We cannot begin to express how much these kinds of messages mean to us. They are flattery. They are reassurance. They are validation. And they always brighten Peat’s day.

We also love seeing The Demon Cycle in its natural habitat— the hands and home of a reader! Daniel Barradas managed to snap a candid and send it to us:

So glad to see it’s in good company!

Here’s a recent one! In response to our Warded Cookie Feast! post on the blog, Dennis Henley responded:

The really, really cool thing about Warded Cookies is that they have absolutely no calories. It’s a well-known fact. Calorie demons can’t approach a warded cookie.

How clever is that? (Also 100% accurate).

We also had a few more serious comments. Some were personal enough that we didn’t want to show them off publicly… That being said, we can’t believe how fortunate we are to have fans that will share their inner feelings with us. We couldn’t appreciate it more.

Mario Galasso agreed to let us share his private message:

Hi Peter. My name is Mario. I want to thank you for the Demon Cycle series. I’m a combat vet suffering from severe ptsd. And the books really help me. I listen via audible and it helps me not think of unpleasant things I’ve dealt with. I really feel transported to the world you created. I just want to say thanks again and keep up the great writing.

It’s always amazing when our fans share their story, and what the books have meant to them. We are so honored to feature Mario on our blog.

An enormous thank you to everyone who has sent us questions, pictures, stories, etc. We wish there was a way to give every comment the individual recognition it deserves. Short of that, blog posts dedicated to fan responses is the least we can do.

The Warded Man hardcover is now available online only! Check it out on Amazon or Books-A-Million.

Character Recreation: RPG Style!

Posted by Karen

In our Wednesday post, we asked people to comment about their thoughts/experience with RPGs. We were thrilled when a fan responded, going above and beyond what we asked.

OldNile is a fan of The Demon Cycle as well as a super awesome gamer! Check out what happened when he decided to incorporate characters from The Demon Cycle in some of his favorite games…

This redesign of Gared Cutter in Skyrim is amazing!

GaredCutterSkyrim1

The choices for his appearance are spot on! And don’t think I didn’t notice his weapon, ready to be whipped out the instant night falls.

Here’s Gared wielding his signature axe like a pro!

GaredCutterSkyrim2

Such an awesome redesign! If wood demons are around, or any demons for that matter, they’d better keep their distance.

Here are some other characters that OldNile created in the expansive world of Skyrim. Can you guess who’s who?

OtherSkyrimCharacters

I love how the pictures really let us see both the design and the character in action! Awesome job on the settings too. There are definitely some photography skills at work here.

If that wasn’t enough, OldNile also recreated six of the main characters from the books, and went on to explore an alien world with them! Here’s a neat video of one of the team’s battles (my favorites are Half-grip, Gatherer, and Deliverer).

In his own words, this fusion of The Demon Cycle and Wizardry 8 started as-

An idea inspired by Peter Brett’s Demon-cycle – our team of six heroes are magically removed from the world of Thesa, only to crashland on a mysterious planet full of dangerous creatures.

Thanks so much to OldNile for sharing these super creative redesigns with us. It obviously took a lot of time and effort and really pays off!
