Check out this Warded Man review by Megan on her book blog Smorgasbook to hear her thoughts on unexpected debuts and how fantasy has changed over the years.
I’ve been finding a bunch of fantasies I’ve read recently feel like retreads of the same old ground. This feels fresh, bringing new and interesting aspects to the table, and that is a great relief.

Looking for something a little more current? Alek just posted a review of The Daylight War on the blog The Serpent’s Quill as part of his “My Year in Books” series.
Peter V. Brett weaves his characters into the complex entanglements of emotions, alliances, and battle effortlessly.
Alek loved Rojer, Jardir and Inevera but didn’t like Arlen and Renna as much. What are your thoughts?

Orbit will be publishing the digital version of Unfettered on February 20, 2014 and will be available in the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.

For those of you who don’t know, Unfettered is an anthology, edited by Shawn Speakman, and published by Grim Oak Press, which features Peat’s short story “Mudboy”. It is not only a fantastic round-up of some of the best contemporary fantasy authors today, but also a touching story about the fantasy writing community. Overwhelmed by medical debts after battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Speakman got creative. Fantasy authors donated original, never-before-published stories to the themeless anthology now known as Unfettered. The anthology features twenty-four tales from the likes of Terry Brooks, Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss, Mark Lawrence, Naomi Novik, Michael J. Sullivan, Jacqueline Carey and Lev Grossman.
You can pre-order the Kindle edition here.
And don’t forget to enter the Warding Contest going on for the month of February for your chance to win the complete Peter V. Brett library!

Lucas, who has done some fantastic fan art before, now has an amazing new tattoo.

Here’s what Lucas had to say:
Big fan of your work and tattoos, naturally, they came together. I’m glad to say that I’m proud to be a member of the Peter V. Brett Warded Fans Association.
The upper arm was done about a year ago. I love how the tattoo extends to his hand. This is incredible. Check out all the amazing warded tattoos here.
Be sure to enter the Warding Contest to win some ultimate Demon Cycle prizes.
